Weather guessers and DMV employees are two careers that can make all the mistakes they want yet still keep their jobs...
Don't worry about the holiday weekend weather just yet. Those knuckleheads can't guess what tomorrows weather will be like, let alone a week from tomorrow...
New user here, after watching the fourm for a few months I got my approval to join you. Anyhow this is a test to see if I can post.
Was planning a trip to Sausalito for the weekend and the weather look bad on Friday but ok after that.
I reserved a spot in Clipper Harbor - any other good places to berth for the weekend in that area?
Welcome to the forum! Your post worked just fine. I have no suggestions for you, but wanted to acknowledge that you have joined us. Have a great weekend!
Clipper Harbor is a nice spot, with usually very good fuel prices, but it is way back in Richardson Bay. We prefer to stay at Schoonmaker Harbor. The facilities are nice and it is a close walk to Mollie Stones Grocery, West Marine and a little further walk, but doable, to downtown Sausalito. Have a great time and give us a trip report when you return.
I like Clipper Harbor. As AbsoLoot said, Mollie Stone and West Marine are one block away. The marina is very clean with cement docks and with clean new showers. The famous Fish restaurant is right there and also the new Sea Horse restaurant. Also the only fuel dock in Sausalito is there. The walk to central Sausalito is an easy 20 minutes.
If you want to venture into SF, PIER 39 has guest docks, contact info is on their web page. South Beach also has guest docks. The weather is supposed to be great.
Thanks for the info. The weather looks a lot better than 24 hours ago. The Clipper Harbor folks were very helpful over the phone and we did drive over last year to check it out. I called the other marinas, one was full and the other said they did not offer overnight berths. None of the ones I emailed replied. You would think in this economy they would have has space and return phone calls and emails.
Any good fishing spots in that area? We might spend one day on the hook drowning a few worms.
