Merc Formula for EFI way less oil than Boatfix

Guess I am trying to understand why the boatfix post a while ago on the "elixir" for winterizing EFI's has WAY more 2 stroke oil than Merc's recommended blend.

To compare, Merc is asking for 2 quarts of 2 stroke per 5 gals gas, and the boatfix mix is asking for 14 quarts of 2 stroke per 5 gallons of gas.

This is based on the Merc logic of 5 gals gas and 64oz 2 stroke and the Boatfix of 50% gas, 35% 2 stroke.

Any practical comments or thoughts?

Here's the OMC/Volvo Penta Winterizing Elixer that I've been using for 13 years on the '96 FSi.

Winterizing Elixer

5 Gallons Fuel
64 oz. of Fogging oil
2.5 oz. 2+4 Fuel conditioner

1 Gallon Fuel
12.8 oz of Fogging oil
.5 oz. 2+4 Fuel conditioner

Yeah, this is about what Merc's formula is...I just wondered by the mix George I think has was so heavy on the oil. Guess I will stick to merc unless someone can shed some light!
