I'm confused.I bought a used boat with a 99 5.7 alpha carbed mercruiser. I'm trying to figure out the wiring for a warning alarm. The thermostat has a tan sender wire coming from one side and a small harness with a yellow and black wire on the other. Oil pressure switch has typical tan/blue wire. The ECM has a tan/blue wire coming from it and the engine harness has a tan/blue wire running into the # 4 female connector at the engine side of the big harness. The side of the harness that runs to the helm is a mercury harness but has no # 4 pin to pluginto the #4 the tan/blue connection. I have no idea how to alarm this motor now. Sorry for the rambling, but I've been pulling my hair out.
Incidentally, the center console had an old alarm in it that looked like it was from the days before the repower. The lead ran back to the motor but didn't connect anywhere.
I really want to figure this wiring out.
