Mercury 5HP, 4 Cycle.. Sell for ???

I have a 5HP Mercury O/B that I got as payment when I cleaned out a lady's boathouse for her. Its a 4 cycle, long shaft. No idea of the year but her husband passed suddenly 7 years ago and it has sat since then. Looks near new, stored properly and runs.. started on 3rd pull. A neighbor who knows how I got it wants to buy it. Not sure what its worth and I don't want to price it in such a way that the neighbor thinks I'm an SOB for trying to get top dollar for something he knows I didn't spend cash for (although the dockhouse was pretty crummy having sat undisturbed except for snakes and misce for 7 years). Any suggestions? What I really need is a 15HP short shaft so I will unload this motor.

Check pricing on Ebay and Craigslist? It doesn't matter what you paid for it, get what it's worth. Nothing about that makes you an SOB Mike...

New they are $1500.

I would say nothing less than $750 and up to maybe $1000.

Thanks all. Talking to his buddy here it seems my motor is going to be small for the boat the potential buyer wants to hang it on (14' aluminum) so I might be able to avoid the awkward negotiation.
