With all the wind here in the Northeast and lack of spotting fish, I had a real crummy fishing season this year, is it me errr what? Maybe I should take up knitting....

A bad day fishing is better than a good day working, unless fishing is your working.

True dat! Im set to go to Florida next week to make up for my deficet! I always do well there!

We fish year round in the South.
We eat fish every week at our house.

I've done a lot of fishing this year up here in BC......the fishing was good!!! The catching......not so good. I've always said,...."that's why they call it fishing....and not catching!"

It sure has been windy in the NE this fall especially and it's about WNW 29, G to 33 kts now. It has definitely cut into the off-the-dock time. But..f you pick your spot you can still rake up some tasty littlenecks. Just got a couple hundred+ last evening. If Ma Nature hands you lemons, make clam-ade!

Up here at Haverstraw Bay on the Hudson River the spring striper run was real good. I got a couple each time I went out. They practicly jumped in the boat. Got one 35", a record for me. By the end of June they are gone. We spend the summer swimming at Croton Point. In the fall I was getting snapper blues and the bunker were here so the blues can't be far behind. Then we had 7" of rain. The river here became fresh, no salt. I think it pushed everything out to sea. Now I get eels and catfish. I'm going to try sunday and a couple of days next week, then the boat comes out. We will trailer it to Key Largo FL for the winter in december. Usually the fishing is great there but not last year. Too cold. We had 36 degree mornings in january. The water went down to the around 55 degrees causing a massive fish kill and lots of cold stunned turtles. We didn't catch much last year at all. We hope this winter is better. I see the water now is 86 degrees at Molasses Reef. Last year it was about 72. I hope the fishing is good this year. That's what we go for.

You should try diving at Molassis reef, its awsome! I have a lot to build on in Key Largo, last January was crazy weather for all south Florida.

It was a cold winter for the South last year.
We haven't had that much cold and wet winter in a long time.

We have gone diving at Mollasses Reef. We can only get out there in my boat when the wind is 5 mph or less. Usually we get out there twice a week for some good fishing. Not last year. In 3 months we got out there 5 times. The wind blew continously for weeks. We also like fishing at the Card Sound Bridge but Barnes sound was never calm enough for me to cross to get there. At the bridge we usually get some 16 to 17 inch mangrove snappers for dinner. Then we can stop at Alabama Jacks for some food and grog. We'll see how this winter is. We'll be on our way in a few weeks.

When I was young, the Winds and Wet never bothered me. I liked fishing. Catching not always necessary, but I was pretty good at it in those days.

Now I get chilly at the thought of going out in the Winds and Rain.

But to all, I say GO out and enjoy. You can put a hot cup of Coffee in the cup holder for me.

Good luck on the weather this year, I'm a prisoner until March up north here, spent my Keys vacation last month.

Cold doesn't bother me after 10 minutes or so.
When I fish in my bay boat, I run just like it was warm.
After 10 minutes, you don't feel it as bad as the first 10 minutes.
