HI Everyone,
I just found out the the boat that my wife and I bought three months ago, has a faulty distributer cap. After the bought failed to start, I had the shop take a look at it, and they found that the cam shaft had been eating away at the gears for a very long time, so much that the gear has been eaten away. And now he is very concerened with all that metal that has been pushed through the engine. He is recomending a new engine, but also sugests that I talk to the Boat Center where I boat the boat, as they must have done their own inspection when they accepted it.
So my question is, should I replace the whole engine, as the mechanic recomends (5,100 bucks!) or my wife suggested just replacing the distributer cap and trading the boat in on a new one. Hmmmm I do want a new boat, but this isn't the way I was planning on getting there! Help!
All suggestions grateful! Thanks!
