Metro Boat Show Feb 9-11 UPDATED INFO!

FWIW, we set up the White Plains show today. I was a little disappointed frankly in the size of the boats on display. Only a couple approach the 30 foot mark. Our Sunsation 32D (a really neat go-fast!) is the longest LOA at the show. I don't know why none of the dealers saw fit to bring their bigger boats, except Zoller's who has a nice Regal and Cruisers there...
What will be at our show, though, are AFFORDABLE boats. Lots of interesting fishing boats, ski boats and pontoons, as well as runabouts and small cruisers from Sea Ray, Larson, Cruisers, Regal, Glastron and Stingray. I think my boss Charlie brought the entire Stingray line down - we fill an entire room adjacent to the main hall with them!!! Plus, as I mentioned, the literature and travel info is pretty robust - I was starting to put the stuff out today (have to finish in the AM!). We're going to have some good electronics and some safety equipment on display. There will be a couple of F-150s and a BMW that will tow 8000 lbs on display. Charlie's 1998 Formula 382 FasTech is in the back parking lot. And there's still time to register for the Jetski/Boater safety course...
So, it will be an intimate show, not a really big one, but a good one for someone interested in a great deal on a runabout or small cruiser, or a GPS. Or who just wants to get out of the cold and smell some styrene. In a more intimate gathering like this the dealers will take more time out to converse in a pleasant manner with you. When its real busy like at the NY Show they just want to figure out if you're buying and then move on to the next person. Here it likely will be different...

Pete, I'll send the e-mail when my website with the pics is up. Overall, it was a good show, me and my friend Steve had a great time.
Lets see, I spoke to you, Rick Zoller, and Max from Boatmax (myself and HOGAN's frined) and Steve signed up for graphic work from the booth near Zoller (can't remember the name). We also talked to the Westchester County police rep and he was very nice. He knew some of the folks at our club and he even gave me some practical pointers on the USCG documentation vs NYS registration battle going on in my head. Also, the Westchester Co. police got a new whaler with twins and will be docked at Viking. The new boat has a cuddy and is equipped for night patrol. We talked about Croton Point and the possibility people might have a cocktail or two and his response was "we only attend to those who attract attention but we also like to make it known we're out there". He hopes they'll have funding for Thurs-Sunday during the summer.
All-in-all it was a good night....oh, and by the way, if you've read through my post so far you deserve to know.....I caught "heart smart" Pete eating ice-cream!!!...Sorry Pete (not really).

That boat was originally supposed to make its debut at our Show this weekend but because the Department's other boat was down for service they were afraid to have it stuck inside a building for the duration in case of emergency. It sounds like a great boat...

Y'know, it figures! As you all know by now, boat show food is absolutely terrible. I brought some healthy stuff from home yesterday but had eaten it all by late afternoon. So I got a grilled chicken sandwich from the concession. Which was about the size of a White Castle hamburger, so I was still hungry. Rather than indulge in more meat or fried chips, I figured I'd get a small dish of chocolate iced cream to tide me over. Don't you know that I walk straight out of the cafeteria with it and on the way back to my booth who do I run into but Chris! So now I'm snagged...
Well, my wife did me even worse today - she bought me the CRISPY (fried) chicken sandwich instead of the grilled one. Maybe I should wonder about HER intentions!!!

So after ease dropping on Pete flirting I mean trying to sell a boat to a leggy blond I finally got to meet the legend known as PB. He didn't even try to deck me either.

Leggy blond??? I'm trying to think of who I was talking to when you came in. There was that one girl Lyn with her fiancee Mike. Damn she was cute. I told the guy he's making one helluva catch with her. The reason? They were getting married on SUNDAY and here they were at the Boat Show on Saturday!!! Plus, she traded in her Viper so they could buy a bigger boat. Like I said, Mike is a lucky fellow!!!
I was glad to meet both Jeff and John for the first time. Thanks for patronizing our Show, for buying stuff so we can pay the rent, to Jeff for taking the Boating Course, and in John's case, for being an eyewitness to my wardrobe !!!

ok, sounds good Pete. The only chartbook I am familiar with is Maptech, which I thought was pretty good. But, it is the only one I have used. So to the group at large, is this the best paper chart available or are there others that people would consider. From my perspective, unless the price is outrageous, I am willing to pay more for the best charts out there. Please let me know what you think.
