Mildew on seats-treatment?

Our Cruisers is sitting under shrinkwrap because I haven't been allowed to do any boating this season because of spinal surgery. I went to the marina yesterday to pay the storage bill and to check the boat. The cockpit seats are showing the black dots of mildew. Vents have been cut in the shrinkwrap and air does flow. I was planning on washing the seats with some Comet cleaner and water this afternoon to clean them and to kill the mildew. Any suggestions on an alternate treatment and way to keep mildew out would be appreciated. Hy
 
50/50 bleach and water mix......and a soft brush. Use to work for me. Just be careful if you have rugs.
 
There is this green stuff called Amazon's I've used it works wonders
 
Comet won't really kill the mildew. Use vinegar to kill it. Spray down everything with vinegar and then rinse off. It will stink like a salad but it really works.

Other things to try to get the stains off: Spray Nine (household version works well), X14 (a bathroom mildew stain remover), and a Magic Eraser.
 
Whatever you use, rinse, rinse, rinse!!!!

Also a light spraying of vinegar that is left on the cushions may prevent mildew from reappearing.
 
there is a product called "L.A. Awsome" comes in a spray bottle and is available at the dollar store. thats right... a product that works!! and costs $1.00
you can pick it up at the dollar tree in Massapequa on Sunrise Highway. I promise you will thank me 100 times.
 
I used some tub and tile mildew remover from Walmart. Worked great.

We use that spray from Dollar Tree all the time. To me, it's a budget version of 409, Fantastik, Spray Nine, etc. and we just call it Awesome. Studying the bottle, it says "LA's Totally AWESOME" and only the last word's readable without a close look.

Not marked as being good on Mold/Mildew but I'll have to see.

X-14 does a good job but at a price. It'll bleach pretty much anything it gets onto and I'd have to guess it's rough on vinyl and even worse on thread. I've found that if the mildew's still black it'll generally come off. If it ever turns purple, it's there for the duration.
 
Tried LA's Awesome on a bimini top with mildew on both sides. It removed every trace on the smooth vinyl side. Removed only the surface "dirt" part of the mildew on the fabric side, leaving a crosshatch pattern in the fabric. I thought I had some X-14 but didn't so I've at least got a cleaned-up, acceptable looking bimini for tomorrow.
 
We've been away on vacation. Rain is predicted for tomorrow, but I hope to get to the boat on Wednesday. I'll report on how well the cleaning goes. Hy
 
I was able to clean the seats today. The stains are gone, for the most part, but the seats are showing their age. I am considering dying the seats. I've been doing some research and there seems to be some products on the market which look good. However, there was one forum with numerous postings warning not to dye the vinyl, that the color will come off on clothing if the seats get wet. Since this will be done to boat seats, they will obviously get wet from time to time. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge about using vinyl dye? Does it work well and hold up? Does it make the seats look good or like cheap cr...p?
