Hey Guys

Was shopping yesterday an notice they have sales on these Mini Fridge / Frezzers for the College kids

I had a thought if you knew you were going to Watch Hill or Sailors and plugged one of these babies in a few days before u went to get it nice and cold. When you got there keep unit plugged into your boat but put it on dock

Do you think they would let you put this on dock?

It would be great to have this rather than a cooler

I can't tell you how many times our food got ruined in our cooler cause either water got in it or we didn't have enough ice.

What do you think?
 
I don't think running an extension chord from the boat to
the dock is a safe set up.
 
Why does it have to go on the dock? Keep it in your boat. Do you put cooler on dock?
They sell special thermoelectric coolers. Look them up. I have looked at them before but always go back to regular cooler with ice.
They are like coolers that blow cold air and keep food cold.

For drinks you can't beat a cooler, ice just makes beer, soda and water colder.
My method is I keep drinks and anything well sealed in cooler and food in fridge.
Drain cooler of water, in fact, on my large cooler I leave the drain open so water never collects.
I do have a ice maker and I am constantly dumping the tray in the cooler and it usually will keep up though if we make frozen drinks I will run out (I wonder why).

I do think boat fridges are too small usually, but for a weekend, they should suffice!

Another idea we do is freeze water bottles. They act as ice and as they defrost they good for drinking too!!
Freezing milk or juice cartons is good too, blocks last longer.

Finally, if you want the ulitmate freezer, find a connection for dry ice. Stuff is amazing. Will freeze your cooler rock solid!
 
I thought of that too...

But we run the power chord from our boat to the dock to power our boats..
 
Yeah, but we don't put appliances on the dock!
Plus the salt air will destroy that thing in 1 season!
 
Check out the Yeti coolers. West has them for sale, but I'm sure you can find them online for cheaper.

I do keep my cooler on dock..

i just figured for what i pay for ice to fill two coolers for two long weekends i could bye one of these fridges..

Im just not sure if they would let me keep it on dock..

i would keep it on my swim platform but its to tight
 
Mike, you can try anything you like at watch hill but when they say no, they will mean it.
I use an electric grill and I use it on the dock with an extension code and they never have a issue with it.
Try it but remember, it is electric and can't get wet. So if dock neighbor uses a hose and sprays it, it could be toast!
If It was me, I would get it but figure out how to leave it on boat. Maybe by the helm?
Besides it will work better if kept shaded.
 
Ice is $10-12 per tote, 100lbs chipped ice, Bergen point or babylon fishing sta.
 
If you are doing anything electric on the boat outside the boat install a GFI outlet where you plug it in. I will run a power tool like a sander or saw on the dock and it all works fine (and safer if I am not mistaken). I think this would prevent a grill toasting also?
 
Hi All

Went to Watch Hill this past weekend with my
Mini Fridge/Freezer.

No problems at all with having it on the dock and it worked like a charm...you do have to plug it in the night before...

Got lots of people saying "that's a great idea"!!

Think im on to something
