We were in Greenport over the weekend and picked up some info on the village's new marina adjacent to Mitchell Park on Front Street. Very classy and well designed with a closed pier to eliminate wakes from the ferries. I counted about 60 slips on floating concrete fingers and room for about another 30 smaller boats along the floating walkways. Water, electricity and cable TV available at all the floating docks. There were four newly-minted dockhands standing around with no much to do, since there were only six boats tied up at the time. You can dock for the day at $1.00 per foot. The overnight rates are $3.50 per foot and cable TV is extra. There are no minimum stay requirements. Brand new restrooms and showers in the administration building. There is abundant room to maneuver when docking. Call the dockmaster on Channel nine and then switch and answer on Channel 7. This is an absolutely beautiful marina with everything carefully throught out. The Village of Greenport's only problem is contacting the marina by telephone. There is no direct line so you call town hall at (631) 477-2200 and when the automated attendant answers, immediately push 400 to be connected to the marina. I was told that they had many slips available for every weekend this summer except maybe the July 1-3 weekend and perhaps the Septemeber 23-24 Maritime Festival. The marina is empty during the week so you can simply motor in and arrange to tie up. For you long-time Greenport visitors, the Dockmaster's name is "Bumpie," and you'll recognize him as the former ticket-taker at the carousel. Once the word gets out about this facility, it will be popular.

headed there in the AM. week rates are 2.5 a ft. and a free day if you stay more than 3 in a row during the week. only 10 bucks extra for 50 amp hookup
 
The marina has been there for a couple of years now. We have stayed at it a few times.

I agree that it is quite nice, and you are right in the town. Too bad there is no pool.
 
As Mike said it’s been there for 3+ years. We have stayed there many times. The best local, everything is new and reasonable costs. BUT depending on the size, style of your boat and where they put you will get some rocking from all the ferry traffic. If Townsend has space for us I prefer to go there and take the 5 min walk into town
 
Stayed there this past weekend and found it enjoyable. Marina personel screwed up a bit and called me on my cell when we were half way there and asked why we never showed up the night before. It all got worked out in the end.

My only other gripe, and not a big deal, but they stuck me in a corner all the way at the end of one of the two "alleys" between C and D. Just enough room to tuck the boat into the slip. I am 34 plus the platform plus the pulpit, so about 38-1/2 OA, There seemed to be about 40' between C and D dock, not really a great amount of room to head down the alley bow first, spin, and back down into the slip. Just behind us were two wide open slips on B dock that stayed that way through the weekend.

They seemed a bit disorganized as we were pulling in.

Dan, we had a reservation for one night there this year - the first Saturday of our trip - July 11th. When we got there, they told us that we were supposed to be there the night before. After much back and forth, the dockmaster found us a slip (I think it was the last one they had). While he was tying us up, he told us that they had us scheduled for a reservation in August - how they got that I'll never know!
 
I'm sitting here now as happy as a clam. No problems. The staff has been great ! Some very very gentle rocking from the ferries but I like it.

Nice and hot this week. Watched the concert on the green from the boat after we took on a movie in town. We'll be biking here, Shelter and all the way to Sag and back this week. Maybe even bike to some vineyards if it cools off later this week.

I'm sure if I wasn't happy with my slip they would let me move.

If anyone's in the area stop by for a drink if we're not out on the bikes. "Passing Thru" 45 Viking
 
Marc ~we are at Block next week on a mooring. Will be at The Oar quite a bit - stop in for a cold one if you are around!

Andy, It sure does. July was Jose Cuervo Month August it's Spiced Rum from our friend Capt Morgan.

My wife and I both said the same thing when we got up this morning and saw the morning view of the harbor, "this is very nice".

They have a very good chicken place called Salimanders on 414 first street. They don;t have inside seating though so don't go on a hot afternoon if you want to eat there.

Well... Time for my first real drink of the day.
