Anyone have using the new dsc radios down pat yet??

I think im retarded when it comes to certain things ,this being one of them... i can call someone once then i get all messed up ..

I think it would be great for everyone to swap MMSI #'s so we can call each other rather then hail . Also dont have to worry about being on the wrong channel.

Dave ,
Would u mind adding MMSI's to ur list of who everyone is ??

Rob

I use it all the time, it's great!

Someone explain MMSI and I will add it.
I know I don't have it.
Whats wrong with a cell phone?

I figured it out, but don't see the advantage.
Isn't a cell phone easier?

It's much easier to hear your radio "ringing" than your cell phone when you are cruising along.

Hogan, I apologize for my inept clueless boat friends... Im truly ashamed...

Rob

...apology accepted.

I wonder if they have CB radios aboard?

Don and I have a pair of GI Joe walkie talkies.
They work good when we are rafted but get bad reception when we are far apart.

MMSI.......My Money Spends Itself
Sorry, I don't need these advanced toys.....I gotta save money for fuel!

All new radios come with it, all you need to do is register and get a number (for free), then program your radio with your number.

Dave, glad to hear you have moved up from the tin cans on the string.

Yeah I know.....I get bad reception ....when the string gets wet between the 2 tin cans.

Question: how do you program #'s into the dsc radio....if there is no numerical keyboard ?

The string was bad, we decapitated some guy when we were running side by side....that was bad.
But we did stop and fish, man the fish loved that chum.

I have yet to find where my cell does not work. I see no reason to upgrade my basic VHF radio for this.
Some toys you just don't need.

Hey Hogan, do you guys upstate still have to climb the pole to make a phone call? I saw that on that there green acres show!

No.....I heard they have phones in their outhouses now......

Phone????

What's a phone???

Had a problem with the smoke signals today, too windy!

Oops, gotta go, the Pony Express guy just came to my hut.

Up on the ATC forum they are talking about putting Butt Paste on their running gear!
Geez! What's next KY Jelly on your outdrive so it slips up and down easier!
