Hello there,

Can you recommend a mobile marine mechanic who does good work but at decent rates? I recently had my engine serviced at California Marine Sports in Suisun. Less than a week later the engine alarm sounds when I turn on the engine. So now I need another mechanic, one that is mobile to take a look at the engine and determine the problem.

I have a 2001 Bayliner 2855 with a 350 Mag MPI Bravo 3 outdrive. I recently had it tuned up with all fluids topped off but some sort of problem persists. Any advice or recommendations you can make are appreciated.

Just sent you a pm

So strange. When I click on the PM Inbox link it takes my right back to the forums page. Am I doing something wrong? You can also email me at waynepj3 rb2@gr5t gmail.com.

Thanks for the help.

Yep. Site glitch. Will probably need to just reply to this thread with any information.

I believe PMs are for Paid Subscribers only (there are other threads that go into the "why"). Although the subscription is not necessary for reading/posting, the fee does help support the on-going forum service. The value of this forum has certainly been worth the low subscription cost for me.

Not a glitch. One must be a member and have anchor [I have one under my RO number] in order to access PMs and emails as well as the Not Boating Related section. Well worth the $20 annual cost!

It takes up to two weeks to get your anchor after your CC has been charged, so be patient.

Thanks. Great info. I will consider being a member. First I have to solve my immediate problem of finding a mobile mechanic.

Wayne,

I think the broker I bought my boat from has a good "mobile" mechanic. I've pinged him to find out & will let you know what I find.

Thankfully I diddnt need a mechanic. I filled up the Gear Lube resevoir, cranked the engine and problem solved..no engine alarm. I even took the boat out for a spin to Benecia and back.

Brian, I know who you were going to recommend - I use the same guy Chris uses (on his recommendation). I sent the info to Wayne, but it seems he doesn't need it now.

Wayne - glad your problem is solved! If you ever make it up to Driftwood Marina (or Caliente Yacht Club) please give me a shout!

Good to hear of the easy "fix" to the problem, Wayne. Keep that contact info that Manticore sent, though; it'll come in handy someday.

Thanks again. Once again this board proves to be a wealth of information. I was on the boat on Wednesday..took the day off and just cruised around the Carquinez Strait for awhile. I love boating..now my challenge is to find more time..and also more money to outfit it exactly the way I like. I bought the boat in August..so far Ive added Garmin GPS 440s, Full Canvas enclosure, changed belts, oil change and tune up for the engine.

Next I would like a small flat panel tv mounted in the cabin...and bedding for the vee berth and mid cabin.
