I just got my annual mailer from Star Island Yacht Club regarding the upcoming season.

Sun - Wed $4.50/ft
Thur - Sat $4.75/ft
July 4 and Labor Day - $5/ft, 3 night min with advance pmt.

30' ft minimum and $25/day for utilities.

I would assume MYC will be the same since they usually are. This is getting pricey.

It's better than loosing it to condos but I hear ya

Mark,
Try Gone Fishing Marina, 631-668-3232, right across from MYC, was always alot cheaper.

$25 for electric is a crime!

That works out to $750 a month!

Thanks Walter. I may re-think where we stay on our Block/Montauk trip.

No pool at Gone Fishing correct?

No pool, no go!!!

I forget what Champlins charges for a 50amp, any one know?

WHat is Essex Island charging this year?

Jonathan

Mark, Montauk Marine Basin is another choice if you don't need a pool. $3.25 a foot for boats over 36'. They won't charge you for pulpits either... $12.50 for electric. That's where we always go.

I got the form for Block Island Boat Basin recently, was almost surprised they are still at $3.75 a foot and 50amp electric included.

Mark,
I have stayed in the Montauk boat basin, nice thing is it is a short walk to Star Island and MYC. Gone Fishing is across the pond and kind of isolated. Also, since it is a short walk to the MYC, you can walk over and use the free shuttle to town.

We got the Boat Basin form too. Stayed there for the first time last year. Having been to Champlins every year, it was a bit of a change. Gotta say we kinda missed it.

Where we go this year will depend on whether we are travelling alone or not.

We're the little kids on the block.

I haven't been to the boat basin in at least 5-6 years but I still get the form every year. The last few times I went to Block I anchored out. Usually I enjoy it, but the last 2 trips it was very windy and I couldn't really relax with other boats getting loose and drifting by. So I think this year I'll try the boat basin again. I only stayed at Champlins once and it was real early in the season. It's too busy/noisy for me during the summer, we like to walk over there for a while to hang out and then head back to the boat basin.

Right now most likely plan is 3 or 4 days at Montauk Marine basin for a fishing trip with a bunch of friends, then a 1 night stop at Cuttyhunk, 4 nights at Martha's Vineyard on a mooring (Edgartown) and Fri-Sun at Block before heading home. Haven't figured out the exact dates yet, sometime around mid-July.

Montauk Marine Basin is also a short walk to the restaurants on the west side of the harbor, and like Walter said not far to Star Island and MYC.

So even though I am a 32 or 35 LOA I will be billed as a 40 ? Or no boats less than 40 can use thier docks ?

Champlins is pretty expensive, as well. They kill you on the electric, a total rip-off!

Eventually, they will price themselves too high and lose business. It costs more to dock your boat than to stay in a hotel, not to mention the expense of getting there.
