I'm looking to get feedback from anyone that has stayed on their boat at any of the marinas in Montauk. Both pro's and con's. Thanks in advance.

Only one place to stay....Montauk Yacht Club....of course that's just my opinion

A big +2, ok pricy.. yes extra fees etc... but well worth it, just IMHO.

You want fun and will pay then myc.
Second is star island.
Third an this is cheaper is gone fishing marina
The second 2 are more of fishing boat places.

Montauk Yacht Club is my only choice out there. Top notch facility with plenty of amenities.

I agree with the crowd. We've stayed at both MYC and Star Island. Montauk is better for a "vacation" experience. Star has a pool and an excellent ships store. Both have very good dock help. Montauk has fixed docks and Star has floating.

I've stayed at MYC, Montauk Marine Basin, and Star Island (that trip was on a friend's boat). MYC is much more a resort marina than anything else in Montauk, they have 2 pools, a spa, different bars and restaurants, a little beach area, you can take kayaks out, etc. It is very pricey though. Normally when I'm in Montauk I'm there to fish and for that there are better choices since they don't have have bait and ice (in quantities for fishing at least) at the marina. They also put me in a slip initially that I couldn't come and go from at low tide. I also didn't really feel like I was in Montauk when I was there, I like being on the other side where I see the commercial boats and fishing fleet coming and going. I normally stay at Montauk Marine Basin, my boat is there now actually. It's much more of a fishing marina though and not really a family vacation spot, although it seems like more cruisers have been stopping there the past couple seasons. I'm in an outside slip with a great view of the harbor, and within walking distance of everything along the road to Gosmans. Star Island is nice, but they charge nearly as much as MYC without the 'resort' feel in my opinion. Their floating docks are nicer than the fixed ones at MYC though.

MYC has 3 pools (two outdoor and one indoor).

John, I was shocked at how much more Montauk Marine was charging for fuel. They used to be the cheapest - not any more!

Mike, earlier in the season there wasn't much difference in fuel prices between Star Island and MMB but MMB has been creeping up (along with most on the road stations) while Star Island has held theirs.

But if you really want to get a shock, ask Star Island about partial season slip rates! ;)

The past few years, I always fueled up at the Marine Basin. This year I went over and saw that they were about $.40/gallon more than Star Island. I backed out of there and gave Star my business.

What's the average cost for a regular weekend (say Friday through Sunday)?

I think it was $5.50/foot, $15/day facility fee, and $36/day for one 50amp cord. (If you are a Marinalife member, electric is 1/2 price). But, you get free ice!

I was checking out there website... Let's not forget the 40ft minimum in season!

This place looks really nice but man it's expensive.

Based upon those rates, that's $813 for 3 days....WOW. I better start saving my pennies, LOL

I think you should skip Montauk, come to Watch Hill for 3 days at a cost of $225 for 3 days and buy $600 worth of dinner and drinks for your friends! I am a friend, right? :)

No bugs in Montauk. Watch Hill after the sun goes down you need to be confined to the inside of your boat!

No true.
Once the sun goes down you go in your boat, then after dusk, come back out.
Bugs are bad for about a hour tops at dusk.

Going back next week for 6 days.

Must be a different Watch Hill. I get eaten alive walking to the beach on the boardwalk during the day. They are all over the place there.

Don't get me wrong Dave, you know I like Watch Hill. We've been checking out other places too though. This is our 3rd year we've gone to Westhampton Beach and we really like the trip. I'm just checking out possibities and seeing what those possibilities offer.
