We usually spend a few nights at MYC, so I just checked their rates:

May 27th – June 11th:
Sun – Thurs: $4.00 per foot
Fri – Sat: $5.50 per foot
(2-night Minimum Length of Stay on Weekends after June 1st)

June 12th – June 15th (Star Island Shark Tournament):
$6.00 per foot
40-foot minimum
(2-night Minimum Length of Stay)

June 16th – June 25th:
Sun – Thurs: $4.00 per foot
Fri – Sat: $5.50 per foot
(2-night Minimum Length of Stay on Weekends)

June 26th – July 2nd:
Sun – Wed: $5.50 per foot
Thurs – Sat: $6.00 per foot
40-foot minimum
(2-night Minimum Length of Stay on Weekends)

July 3rd – July 6th (Fourth of July Weekend):
$6.50 per foot
40-foot minimum
3-NIGHT MINIMUM LENGTH OF STAY FOR JULY 4th WEEKEND

July 7th – August 27th:
Sun – Wed: $5.50 per foot
Thurs – Sat: $6.00 per foot
40-foot minimum
(2-night Minimum Length of Stay on Weekends)

August 28th – September 1st (Labor Day Weekend):
$6.25 per foot
40-foot minimum
3-NIGHT MINIMUM LENGTH OF STAY FOR LABOR DAY WEEKEND

September 2nd – September 27th:
Sun – Thurs: $3.50 per foot
Fri – Sat: $4.00 per foot

September 28th – October 31st:
Sun – Thurs: $2.50 per foot
Fri – Sat: $3.00 per foot

Resort Fee:
$15.00 per day

Utility Fees - 2014:
(Includes Power, Water and Cable)
30-amp: $25 per cord per day
50-amp: $35 per cord per day
100-amp (Single Phase): Metered Electric
100-amp (Triple Phase): Metered Electric

Have they gone INSANE??? I refuse to pay almost $300/night to stay there! This is completely out of control.
 
We are booked in there, Greenport, and Block for Fourth of July week.
Its expensive but that is what it costs to dock with the wealthy!

Am I ?
 
Is there a delta from last year?

I must say it used to kill me to pay the minimum 40' charge when I went there with my 31' Formula but based on your use of the amenities (especially indoor pool since it always seems to rain when we are there) it can be worth it.

That being said, there are other less expensive options in the immediate area that will give you access to area...like Snug Harbor.

We are headed up to Montauk this summer. I originally was going to stay at MYC but that is triple what it is here in the Chesapeake. We decided on Star Island, still expensive but not as bad as MYC and we can walk over to their restaurant if we want.
 
You can also use their pools and hop on their van for rides to/from town.
 
I just spoke to guy who booked us. He said we got a big discount because we are 7 boats. I don't know what it is.
 
For $300/night, the should wash my boat, change the sheets, clean the interior and leave chocolates on my pillow. I will never go back to this over-priced marina.
 
Feel the same as you Mike. I can only bend over so far till it hurts. :)
If you think about it, WTF are they giving us for that rate and then factor in the cost to get there?
I don't want to single them out, boating in my dads day was an inexpensive gig, a gig the average man could do. Boy has that changed. Sad to say the least :)

Are you saying even though we are staying at Star Island we can still use the pool at MYC and get rides to town? That's awesome, why would we stay their?

You all should come to the Chesapeake! The difference in slip fees would more than save the extra cost of fuel to get here we have multiple interesting places to go within a short distance. If anyone ever comes down I can get slips in Kent Narrows at our Yacht Club for 1.50$ p/f full service. Just let me know...
 
Mike we gave up on Long Island years before we retired. The restaurants in Montauk were substandard as well.

It's all part of why we retired early. We knew that even if we kept working, unless we had a major killing in the market, the North East areas that were attractive were going to be priced right out of our wallet. It's not just the price, it's the taxation etc. etc..

So we bugged out and moved South. This chit is coming to the Bahamas as well and it won't be long before I chuck the boat if this crap keeps up. There's working to be a millionaire, and then there is sitting on your fat ass ripping people off.
 
Van, as of last year, MYC had no system to check at the pools or the van. You can even steal some towels from them, if you like...

You left off fresh towels and toilet paper!
 
Toilet paper is a tissue-issue at all marinas especially those popular with saleboters near anchorages.

I know there's the oligopoly theory about your marinas, and it probably has some truth to it. Could it also be the cost of doing business for the marinas mixed with supply and demand are what's behind those insane prices? I suspect a mix of all of those factors. I'm stuck in Fort Lauderdale on a 30' boat with a 40' minimum and it's still only $100/night (power included) at in-season rates. We've got beach access (HUGE Atlantic beach with nice, warm water), a pool, and more restaurants than I can count. Back home in the Chesapeake I think the highest rate I've ever seen (and never paid) was around $4/ft. Most Maryland marinas are closer to $2/ft (some less). But we've got a ton of competition.
 
Right next to Sandals on Great Exuma we have at slip pump out, at 2.25/ft but .85/kwh. Water is .40/gallon.
 
Several years ago, just before the economy tanked, a bunch of eastern LI marina owners got together and decided that they could charge $5.00/foot. Some charged it straight out, others raised charges for electricity and others added a "resort fee". The bottom line is that they went from under $3.00/foot to $5.00/foot overnight.

MYC has taken it to new heights of absurdity. Sure I can afford it, but based on principal, I will not pay it.

I recall a few years ago when we went to the Chesapeake, transient dockage was a max of $3.00/foot - and you got a lot more than you do on Eastern LI.
