I am thinking about dinner and drinks sat night and also spending the night tied up at the dock, what are the chances of any space available for my boat sat afternoon? Never been there before so am looking for some advice.
 
You will have plenty of room! After Labor Day weekend, the docks are rarely full unless they have something special going on. I believe you can call and reserve dock space if you want to be sure. Have a great time!

no,the panties went up in smoke,but we did manage to rescue a few.
our yacht club bought the original mrb, back in 1994 and towed it to bethel island.the poor panties finally turned to dust. the place is still a lot of fun and the food is good. have fun roy

Is the restaurant at Korth's Pirates Lair still open? They have been known for great breakfasts. Also Spindrift serves a very good breakfast.
 
Just got home from my little excursion. Got to moores around 4.30 saturday and got the last available berth! Boats were circling like vultures waiting for a spot. Food was good and prices very fair. Bar was packed when I whent to bed around 11.30. And with my new prop the ride whent pretty quick!
 
roy: hard to believe that old POS even floated enough to be towed. It was well hogged IIRC.

I ended up going to Moores on Friday night - not the plan, but what the heck! Had a great time, dance, drank very little because I drove, but it was still fun! Sounds like you did great as well. Korths had their marina party on Sat night - heard it was a blast - so people might have been moving a bit slow for breakfast! The owners are the same for Korths and Oxbow (and Willow Berm) and they go all out for the berthers, putting on a first class spread with all the fixings. Great, great people!

Jim, do they also own/manage the restaurant at Korth's? Or do they lease out the restaurant to an independent group?
 
Where is the best spot to enter the docks? When I left sunday morn I whent straight out and the depth was only a couple feet and I was stirring up some serious mud!(low tide)
 
The entire area is like that right now. IF we get a lot of large storms this winter, some of that will get flushed out by the currents. If we have another drought year, it will remain bad or get worse unless dredging gets done. Your best bet is avoid arriving and/or leaving at low tide and especially minus tides.

I keep my Californian at Riverboat and have been told to run along the reeds to the south and make a late turn toward the face of the docks when you're nearly abeam of dock end. I approach along the reeds each time I enter my slip area, but I continue west then south into the covered slips.

There is a channel to approach from the north, too, but I'm not familiar with that one. If you run straight into the docks from the main channel, you'll polish your props.

The Korths restaurant is now owned and managed by the Marina, but this is only this year. It was an independent activity until maybe, 6 months ago. They do a great job, been there many times.
