Tower Park Marina is making some changes:

KOA is going to replace Sunset Bar & Grill with an Italian restaurant that serves beer & wine only. That is all I know right now. SB&G will close after tonight.....

Is the Sunset Bar & Grill going to reopen somewhere else? An Italian restaurant serving just beer and wine was tried at Vieira's. It was not successful.

Too bad - the Sunset always had great food, and it was a fun place. Since KOA took over the marina, most of the really rough crowd went elsewhere, and it was a nice place. I have had many a fun night tied up to their dock. I hope, but doubt, that the new place will be able to maintain the tradition. Strange...

I've been there a number of times by slough and asphalt slough. Always thought it was one of the more happening places in the delta. After the Italian place tanked at Vieira's, an old timer there told me the folks just didn't want the fancy stuff - and they wanted their booze.

Jim, am taking the Corvette to Able Chevy in Rio Vista on Friday for service and may stop by Oxbow before or afterwords. You gonna be there? Might be one of the few days of sun since the rain is supposedly back on Saturday.

That's a shame, I always liked Trish and thought she did a pretty good job. I hope that she re-opens somewhere else. Tower Park had some monumental party nights there; I don't see a beer and wine joint doing well either.

I think KOA has much more experience running RV Parks and not marinas! They are used to catering to RV crowd who eat early and are asleep by 10PM......

Amen

We know how to call and get the bridge to open.
RV ers just hit the gas station awning, and thats with just beer and wine!

I heard a rumor that she went to Moore's Riverboat.

I have heard from a reliable source that Trish is taking over the restaurant operation at Windmill Cove, near Stockton. It's a great location with good views and usually plenty of dockage, but over the past few years the crowd seems to have changed. Hopefully the restaurant change will bring in a new crowd of boaters and rejuvenate the place. Let's all try to stop in and support Trish's new operation when she gets up and running.

Last week when I was at BI, I saw that Beacon Harbor is expanding their campground and reworking the existing one. Maybe the rumor about KOA is true? Whatever, it is nice to see someone making improvements to that place!

We were able to confirm that Windmill Cove is up and running with Trish at the restaurant helm!

That's good news!

We'll have to stop in there soon.

We used to spend a lot of nights at their guest dock.

Our first visit there was back when Hal had his woodie in one of the covered slips there.

That goes back a ways...

Hopefully that will add an element of stability to the place. It's been a revolving door over there for the past couple years.
