No problem with paying for this as well.

Does anyone have a small boat that can swing by my slip (Anchorage Yacht Club) to measure the distance between my poles??

The new boat is 15' 4" wide. Supposedly the slip is 16'8" , but it has a finger pier and poles, so not sure of these widths. In other words, not sure of the usable width.

Thanks

Just curious. 15'4" at the chines or the gunwales. Reason I ask is there is a similar thread with a similar question in ATC.

David,
Saw that post, that's what prompted this post. Good question Dave, don't know??? what would be the norm, when a company specs the beam??

Walt, my little boat is in the water, though my mechanic is still doing work on it. If its able to be taken out and run, you are more then welcome to take the boat. In my condition right now, I aint steppin on the boat.

Walter,

Beam is taken at the widest point of the boat. On mine it's just forward of the windscreen at the rubrails. Depending on your hull design and if you have floating docks will affect a lot.

Walter, FWIW, I tried to find the 12' 4" beam my Silverton is supposed to be. While I didn't try very hard, I don't think it's quite that wide. If it is, it's only that wide in the middle as she tapers in towards the stern....which is easier to measure....can't recall exact measurement but I want to say the easy to measure stern rub-rail to rub-rail was more like 11', not near 12'4" specs posted by Silverton.

Walter......I may be out in left field here.....but is Sea Tow in the AYC ???.....maybe they can do it for a member ?......just sayin.

Walter,
Next warm non windy day I will assemble the portabote and do it.
I need to assemble it any way to take pictures to sell it.
We can launch by floating dock at work slip.

Don,
I think they pull there boats in the winter, Maybe Adam will chime in.

Dave, we need to do this sooner rather than later.

Thanks

Silverton specs them at the widest point, probably on that boat just maybe a hair forward of saloon windshield at the rub rail.

Walter all you need is a point and shoot tape measure. No boat needed. I don't have one but sure someone does or Home Depot you go.

Walt use google earth, zoom in and use the measureing device and put it in feet. If I measured the right slip your slip is around 17'center to center. Rich

Not sure of your dock setup. If you can stand on the pier, then just go to a place like Lowes and buy 2 pieces of cheap PVC tubing. It should be stiff enough to stretch 15+ feet. Make a mark on it and then measure with a tape measure.

good idea, but the finger pier does not get me to the outer poles :(

Stretch one piece to one outer pole on an angle.
Then measure to other pole straight one.
Y = MX + B to figure length of the the other hypotenuess between the other pole.
The angle of the dangle equals the mass of the ass!

Ok, we can get my little boat out this weekend coming up.
I need to do it anyway like I said, guy in CT wants pics.
You think he is buying something huge!

Wow! I never knew you could do that! I just spent half an hour measuring places like how wide our old canal was (always wondered about that!), how close our new villa is to the lake, etc. I think I found a new hobby :)
