Raritan's Engineering Department has asked me to conduct a short survey on from those who have the Marine "Elegance" head, with the Smart Switch control:

For those of you who have purchased and installed a Marine "Elegance" toilet with the 4 button Smart Switch control, have any of you changed the flush times from the factory setting? Or have you left it alone, and are simply staying with the factory setting?

If any of you have changed the setting, following the instructions in the Owner's Manual, why did you change the setting?

Any info you are willing to share on the subject will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Vic

Vic, I did not change the settings. We most often use the 'water saver'; occasionally I use the bowl empty or add water switches. The Normal flush is rarely used - in fact at the pumpout station is the only time I can think of, when the tank gets emptied and then I want someone to add some clean water back in so I can vacuum that out to help clean it thoroughly.

I guess I once thought about scaling back the 'normal' from 3 cycles (?) to 2, but didn't. Because if I wanted 2 cycles, I would just hit water saver twice.

It seems to work fine the way it is.

I did change mine Vic, why? Really just to find the optimium solution, it is really close to the default setting.

Basically, we're trying to find out if the instructions are clear enough for the average person to follow.

I haven't changed ours, but I'll make a note to read the manual in the next day or so to see if I can understand it and successfully mess things up.

I left mine exactly as it came out of the box. Works very well and I saw no reason to change it.

I thought the instructions were clear enough. It was one of the 1st things I tweaked after I installed the unit.

I have 2 of them sitting in my garage waiting to get installed. I ordered them with the standard push bottom because I wanted to keep it simple. Guest have a hard enough time just pushing a switch to flush let alone one that comes with options.

I have had guests ask but the 4 push button control is really easy to explain. Either way I think you will be really happy with the new head's.

Vic, I decided to run with a handicap and try following your manual after 1.5 rum and Cokes. :-)

The verdict: The manual is fine. I didn't have any problems changing any of the settings. The only issue I have is that my "holding tank full" light doesn't flash. I guess I have a bad LED or something. I'm getting in to "programming mode", but no light at all. Not a big deal.

Kurt, the "Holding Tank Full" light requires that a special sensor be added to your holding tank, in order to function. It isn't included with the Hold N Treat system and is a special order item. Very few users have it actually functioning, and fewer still really want it, as it disables the toilet when the holding tank is full.

Vic, I was just going off what the manual said (which isn't in front of me right now). I believe something about hold down "Fill" and "Empty" for 3 seconds until "Tank Full" flashes to enter programming mode? Does that only flash with the option installed? If so, perhaps that needs to be noted in the manual?
