NEED HELP NOW85 Carver Nariner needs a pump out!

I have a smelly problem. Our 1985 Carver Mariner has a clog in the pump out line to the holding take. I add fresh water, to get a good prime and all the pump out gets is the fresh water in the line before the clog, then it looks like its done. but it's not.... Any ideas to fix this crappy problem? Can I run a garden hose down the line and blast it with water? The heaad flushes and no bad smell yet, but the tank has to fill up sometime?????HELP

probably a clogged vent filter not the outlet line unless the valve is closed.

Like pdcat said, could be a clogged vent line. Have someone look at tank while you are pumping out. If the vent is clogged, you will see the sides squeeze in. If not, something could be wedged in your pump out line. I would try a regular plumbers snake through your pump out fitting.

This brings back memories to when I was on my 2nd or 3rd year in baltimore, and a couple who bought a large canadian motor sailer where at the marina pumpout and couldnt figure out why the pump out machine could not pull any waste. I ended up playing the good samaritan role and tried to help. after an hour or so - we can to realize their boat had an odd y valve and it was set to send every flush over board. not sure if carver ever did this? on my 506 - if had fore and aft over board pumps, but nothing automatic as these folks had. I did help one guy who had a similar problem on an old 36, I want to say - and the previous posting was right - I went to home depot, bought a 25' snake, and hit it from the outside - was a hard mess of all sorts of stuff about 6 or 8 feet down the line. I live aboard and I'm convinced - the key with pumps, hoses, heads, ac units, and virtually everything on board is simple - use the equipment. seals, hoses, and everything else drys, rots, and breaks. good luck...Into the Mystic - BMore MD

The carver configured normally has a y valve and a pushbutton operated macerator. no direct overboard

My 1989 3257 Montego has a y valve next ot the holding tank (midship bilge area). The y valve either sends waste to the holding tank or through a waste hose that runs forward overboard to a seacock in the foward bilge area (in the floor below the forward birth). I know this because I just replace the seacock and y-valve only to have our state enact a law that make it mandatory to lock the y valve in the position that will only direct waste to the holding tank. If this valve is configured improperly it could also be the cause of your problem.

My seacock is very rusty.. ( Not looking for a joke here. ) How big of a job was changing it out? I am looking to block off mine.. I dont need it. Anyboby know if there are seacock delete plates or something ?
