Vic -I just installed a new Jabsco electric head replacing the manual one I had. The model is ITT Jabsco 37010090. Two questions - the manual toilet did not have a vented loop - the inlet from the seacock went right to the pump assembly, but it is about 6 inches above the water line. Do I need to install a vented loop on the new electric head, or will it be OK as long as it is above the waterline? Also, this model advertises that its "Self-priming flexible impeller flush pump scours bowl.
Efficient macerator and high capacity scavenger pump grinds up waste and pumps it out." Does this mean the one pump will suck water in from the seacock, grind the waste, and evacuate to the holding tank? After I bought it I've seen other models (quiet flush type) that have a PAR-MAX pump that is separate and pumps raw water into the toilet assembly. Thanks for your help.

You shouldn't need a vented loop on the intake side if the head is installed above the waterline.

The 37000 series head has two pumps: 1) Flexible rubber impeller to bring in outside water and rinse the bowl. 2) Macerator and centrifugal discharge pump to grind up the waste and pump it off to your holding tank.

The two pumps are "stacked" - the macerator and discharge pump is immediately behind the toilet bowl, and the intake (rinse water) pump with rubber impeller is immediately behind the discharge pump, with a barrier plate between them, to keep the clean and the dirty water apart. They are both driven from the same motor, and run simultaneously.
