Just noticed tonight that the old 'Islander Boat Center' down the canal from me in Lindenhurst has a 'Coming soon - SS3 Yacht Sales' sign on it along with signs for a few different boat companies. Not sure how long the sign has been there but I did notice just recently they moved an old Sea Ray that had been sitting on the corner of the property for a long time.

Would be nice to see the place get used again, the building is fairly new and designed as a boat showroom and the waterfront location makes a lot more sense than the old movie theater they used for the fishing boat location until that closed.

Well Paul is back in the boating Business. So im not surprised he is going to start selling boats. I'm sure he cant touch sell new Searays yet. Marine Max cant go away fast enough in my eyes.

Rob

I had heard same thing that Paul was getting back into the game as SS3, not Marine Max. That site has been a waste since Bayliner/Islander left. It's got great potential that's for sure.

Yeah, that place has water, but has very little yard space

Paul took back the delivery center from M/M....and now its his Marina again.....I'd assume he's taking over Islanders property too.

AGREE.....M/M cant be gone fast enough !!!

I tried buying a boat from MM over the summer, but they wouldnt take my searay in on trade because it was "too" old...Its a 90.

oh well

I traded up with SS3 every 3-4 years. Started with a 28' dancer.....then to a 31'.....then to a 33'.....then to a 37'....then M/M moved into town.........GAME OVER ! They threw everyone off the wheel of fortune . :(

He is picking up a few new lines (i.e. Monterey) to sell at the new boat sales location.

also Marquis Yachts. I just an an email invite to the Norwalk boat show from them.

Next year will be my 5th season with my current boat. Hard to believe!
I usually get rid of my boats after 5 years.
I started looking and only 1 boat catches my eye and that is the SeaRay 450 Sedan Bridge but they are too pricey!
I wish the 420/440 SB had a hardtop!

The signs on the window mention Jupiter, Marquis, Cobia, and Carver.

Wow, that is hard to believe it will be 5 years already for your boat Dave! Then again hard to believe I've had mine for 9 seasons now!

Any reason why you keep your boat for such a short time?

Personally, I like to keep boats, eventually do a repower and just update. The thought of learning a new boat, how she handles, all the quirks, the this and the that, i couldnt keep them straight boat to boat..

Well I have been moving up, so 5 years was my move up point.
Love the current boat, so it may hang in there longer, but eventually we want to get a boat that we can run the loop with and that would have to be a diesel.
Current boat is perfect for the type of boating we do.
The longer I wait, the more the prices on the used come down!

really, its been 5yrs already? Seems like you lost your nuts just a couple of years ago...

Well, he said next year is his 5th season. So assuming he picked it up in the spring (can't remember for sure) really it's only been a little less than 3.5 years so far since the nuts incident :)

My dad had the same boat from 1949 through around 1980. Actually he had it until about 1992 but not in use the last 10 years or so as age got to it and eventually we had to scrap it unfortunately when he didn't have time to finish the rebuilding project he started and it got worse... I ended up 6 years on my first boat and 5 on the next before moving up, but now I feel I have the ideal boat for what I do so no desire to change after 9 seasons.

3.5 since nuts fell off. Fourth season. Next year is fifth

Ran into a Monterey rep at the AC show. Def going to have them there as well as what's listed on the signs. I've heard good things about Paul and the opposite about MM...so glad to see him back there
