Looks like you now have to be a member of BoatUS to participate in their forums...so long BoatUS.

That forum got the kiss of death long ago IMO.

I stopped going there when they let a magazine sponsor ridicule and berate the regular contributing members.
If a member who contributed info and pictures to the forum didn't like it, they were either banned for saying
something or told there was nothing Boatus could do. But if you said what the magazine sponsor didn't like,
they would send you to banned camp.
It was a fun place at one time. I did find this one by frequenting that one.
So something good did come out of it. And I made a few good friends from it also.

Not sure why this is in HRCC, or even on BE, but, I'll let it stand for a while.

That is a good thing! I still get spam pretending to be them and I haven't read or posted there for several years!

I gave up on them a while ago...I only read this site for my boat fix. Even gave up on SOC.

No big loss.

While I gave up on them also, I wonder if this is a reaction to idiots like TB.

I find it hard to believe that they finally realized what an a-hole TB is, after all the slack they have given him.

It is interesting that it suddenly happened when Dave & I were no longer posting - but TB, Swampbutt and KK were still doing their best to drive newbies away.

One thing for sure, TB is too cheap to pony up the $24 to play in his "sandbox".

Mike, it's here because many HRCC'ers, at one time or another, participated quite regularly...some still do. And, it wouldn't have lasted a day in Ask the Captain. I really don't care if it's deleted or not. It was just offered as an item of some interest.

TB is back, and is building up to being just as destructive as he used to be, so he must be a member.

He seems desperate for attention now, no one is paying him any attention even his so called friends aren't jumping on his band wagon. Maybe things will settle down and become a worth wise forum but I'm not holding my breath.

BoaterED will always be #1 in my book.

JohnH when are you going in? It would be nice to actually meet you! I'm in and at Blue 103 there is another Trojan 440 right behind me now.

If I had to choose between the SOC or BoaterEd,
that would be a real tough choice for me, both IMHO are very valuable and for different reasons. Having a bunch of boaters with the same boat as I, has been a huge plus for me.

SOC is a pimple in size and members compared to BE. I find, having people that own the same brand and model of the boat you are asking about gets you better and more accurate answers. Even owning the same brand is good because they share common parts.

Boat US is a Joke,
Carver club IMHO is a joke, I paid there and joined when I was looking at a Carver, all I got from that club was a $30.00 Tea shirt :) Their site is pathetic.

Just my 2C

I was thinking of starting a Trojan/Carver club but I'm afraid there would only be about 8-12 members and I know most of them.

I agree it is great to be able to pick the brains of others with the same or very similar boats!

That's a good ideal, maybe B.E. could change the Carver section to a Carver/Trojan one bet it would get more action.... ;)

Dave, as of yesterday my boat was sitting at the service docks. I suspect I'll get a call on Friday that it has been moved into my slip.

Yes, but there is nothing boating-related on it. If you like juvenile humor, bad advice, personal attacks and self-serving posts, then it's a great place.

I agree it's a pretty useless site, but they had to try something. They apparently are not willing to actively moderate (which is not surprising since the mods seem to be employees with other responsibilities - who wants to increase their own workload?) or designate member-mods. So what else could they do? Basically it's been trolls-prompting-world-war-3 over there since I can remember.

Of course there's no reason to think it will change the basic dynamic there. But at least now they have the threat of a punishment they can make stick.

I thought I saw your boat in it's slip last night John.
