No BoatUS Forum Participation Without Membership

I'm heading up to the marina in a couple of minutes I take a look.

TGIF!

+1 I installed my new lights fixed a broken plumbing fitting and had lunch on board.

Great Day!

TB just announced on BoatUS that his membership on BoaterED has been approved so he is "jumping ship" and on his way here.

He will be in the Canadian/Northern US sections. Some of us are safe. LOL

He never bothered me on that site. I thought some of his stuff was funny, some stupid.
But he may have gotten worser since I left that site a few years ago.

He continues to get worse he is only there to piss people off and he is doing a great job! They had to create a members only just so that they can ban people for good so maybe has days are numbered. He has pissed off a new member who may very well pay him a visit and show him what being a pain really feels like. I don't wish anybody any harm but it would be hard to feel sorry for him.

He must have compromising pictures of the BoatUS staff, there is no other explanation for them allowing him to continue posting there.

He may be BoatUS staff.

I liked the site cause there were so many members on there that had the same model of boat as me. There were also a lot of 25' Chris Crafts. But to let someone kick me in the balls just to be able to talk to some of these guys is outside my comfort zone.
I always say, if you don't like someone, don't visit them. About as simple as I can put it. So I followed my advice.

There has been a bit of a house cleaning there not sure if TB is still around anymore if he is I would be surprised, he has been breaking just about every rule they have and has been called out on the carpet by a new comer.

It's like a train wreck I just can't look the other way.

Looks like "craigsyacht" stepped up to the plate and blasted TB out of the park!

It was a cooperative effort as a number of us were logging the TB posts before he had a chance to delete or modify them, and passed them on to those who could do something about it. TB was given enough rope to hang himself and "craigsyacht" pulled the lever.

I spoke to Craig yesterday and he was truly new to the site and was completely caught off guard by the attacks he received so quickly! I missed it but TB made some unfounded negative remarks about Craig's company, Craig went ballistic and will sue him if he can track him down. BoatUS wiped out every trace of the thread as lanbuilder stated I suspect many of us were copying and reporting TB's attacks, he was in rare form and out of control.

Craig actually called my marina to get a hold of me he seems like the real deal and a decent guy who was pushed too far by a nut job. I don't see how BoatUS could allow TB back in the future we may have seen the last of him, if not I think Hogan may be on to something maybe incriminating photos.

I ask him even suggested he join He simple said he knows about this site, I didn't push the issue. I got the impression ordinarily he doesn't have time to read and post on forums but he has been recovering from surgery and has time to kill he made it clear this was a short term thing for him, however I do believe I will hear from him in the future in fact he may bring one of his boats to Haverstraw for a visit.

From all of his posts that I've read, craigsyacht sounds like somewhat of a pompous blowhard. I'll take the wry humor and banter from TB over craigsyacht's harangue any time. Say what you will.

John, apparently TB stepped WAY over the line, with more than just "wry humor and banter".

I was contacted by a moderatorr of BoatUS who told me that they were sick and tired of him, and wanted to permanently ban him, but didn't know how. Every time they blocked him, he'd log on with a new user name. Brian asked me to report whenever I saw TB doing that, which I did.

On December 19, 2011 at 9:36 AM, I got the following email from that moderator:

"Thank you ro reporting (TB's posts) to us, we have deactivated that username and I'm in the process of deleting his posts and the replies. Being the inernet, we don't hav a true, failsafe way to keep someone from coming to the boards without shutting it down and restricting it to BoatUS members only, but if he does come back I ask you to continue doing what you and other members have been doing and reporting it to us and we'll deal with it as soon as we're able to.

Personally I'm just as mad as you and others that he continues to come back to the boards without changing his ways and abusing others. I believe he is trying to do this when he thinks we're not looking so I am going to keep a constant eye for new members now. All I can ask is to please let us know if a new member looks like TB. It may take a few posts before I can actually get rid of him, but it will be taken care of."

Less than an hour later, I received and email from Chris Edmonson directing me to "stop complaining" about TB and "for (me) to complain about anyone else truly falls on deaf ears".

Posts made by TB following this email evidenced that someone at BUS was providing him with "inside information" about me, which TB gleefully shared on the Board.

It was clear to me that Edmonson did not care about TB's abusive behavior, and hd no intention of stopping it.

I don't know what TB did to craigsyacht, but from the posts I read, craig has begun legal action against him. I think that BUS is equally culpable, by letting TB crap all over their forum, and personally attack posters, with the knowledge and consent of BUS.

I don't know if Craig is aware of the above, hopefully he will read this post and get a better picture of what led up to "final straw".

Other forums are able to perma-ban someone. Can't imagine why BUS can't figure it out. Might be related to the antique software they run. Dunno.

Geez, now it sounds like a big lovefest over there. I, for one, won't be rejoining just to participate in their forums. It seems that the half-dozen or so "regulars" will have to work very hard to rebuild the integrity of the site.

John I think a half dozen might be a high estimate!
Hardly a love fest but it has been an interesting roller coaster ride.
