Norcold Issue

Our Norcold fridge / freeze combo doesn't seem as cold as it was last year. It's original equipment from our 1999 Silverton Aft Cabin. It's set to high but if you leave ice in the freezer it melts a little bit over time. Did not do that before. The beers aren't quite as cold either.

1. Can they be recharged? More Freon?
2. Is there another brand to look at?

Could have developed a refrigerant leak. Yes they can be recharged after locating and repairing the leak. Based on cost of repair versus replacing with new, I would go with new since your unit is 16 years old

First.. with the unit on . The refrigeration plate should be cold all the way around. WET ur finger and see if it sticks to the begining and end of the plate.

Also if there is ice build up only in place. IF u have ice only to one side or ur finger only sticks partially around u have a leak.

16 years old u have 2 choices. toss it and purchase new or have someone come in and add some freon. adding gas should run around 300 -400 bucks ( NY PRICING )

i bet its small leak and will last a season. but again ull be in the same boat situation in a year but it buys u time...

pull out the fridge and seeing is anything is blocking air flow to the condensor is also advisable. Realize taking out may be a project with in itself. Adding gas to machine also requires access to the back of the unit
