Can someone recommend a party boat or charter for the New Port Richey area for November? We are heading down that way for vacation and would like to do some fishing. The party boats out of Tarpon Springs are and option but are an all day trip. I could take a ride to Clearwater for a charter looking for additional people but wanted to know if there is anything else?

the problem of north of tampa is it takes forever to get to deep water. off of new port richey it is 1 ft deep per mile you go off shore. you would want an all day trip just so you can get to the fish. if it were me and i wanted a half day trip i would drive south a bit.

Joe is right. I have been out 3-4 miles and had the alarm on the depth finder go off. Nothing quiet as exciting as finding out you are in 3ft. of water when you are running 40 knots.
New Port Richey to Tarpon is a 10 minute drive, NPR to Clearwater is 20 minutes. I would either go out of Tarpon or check to see what is available from St. Pete.
Now that I am thinking about it, Port Richey has a day cruise that is a casino. Seems like there were a couple of charter boats there. I will look this weekend if I head that way.

Rob, I have been on one of the party fishing boats 1 time. It was my first time to go fishing offshore. Let me say it like this, that was the biggest mess I ever saw in my life. We were standing elbow to elbow, lines stayed tangled, it was a joke. Granted it was cheap, and I got what I paid for. After that, I only went out on the private charters. Last time I chartered a boat, it was 65ft and there was 11 of us. There was a total of 3 groups on the 1 boat. We had a choice of 4 hrs. or 8. The 8 hr. trip gets you out further and on better fishing. I think it cost about $180 per person. Its been several years and I would not swear to the pricing.

It would probably only be me fishing so a full charter will cost a fortune.

Gotcha.....check with some of the charter boats, many times they will have several groups on one boat. That way it wont cost a fortune.

OK Thanks. I think my best chance will be the Clearwater marina. Can send the wife and kids to the beach and I can go fishign for a few hours.
