Not liking this windy, rainy season start

Constant winds blowing hard from the SSW, especially afternoons. Constant forecast of scattered showers and/ or t storms.

Plus, I don't see many boats out there this season. Keep hearing from very reliable sources that many took the $ they got for their boat and put them towards their house repairs.

Not a fun start to this short season!
 
High tide was nice today but wind sucked.
Definitely been a windy season.
We all have sweatshirts on. It's cold.
 
Beautiful day here in SNJ, Sunny but the winds were strong and steady out of the SSW. The temps were warm, it would have been hot if not for the winds.

Got no problem with steady winds if temp would cooperate. Like Dave said, sweatshirts on a steady basis? Not fun. Can't even sit in my deck and have a good drink! Too cool. Hoping this pattern breaks soon.
 
It actually turned out pretty nice today. Bay Shore shark tournament was postponed due to the offshore forecast so ended up taking my dinghy out for a ride in the bay. First time I was in the bay this season, water was comfortable. Sunshine, a nice breeze but nothing too crazy, really can't complain, I was expecting it to be much worse.
 
Weather makes me almost feel less depressed about not be able to go boating this season. Almost, but not quite. Hang in there, guys; it has to get better. Hy
 
Had planned to go to WH but made the call Thursday to cancel. While it seems to be better than originally forecast, the wind has been strong at the ocean and some fog this morning.
 
Who wants to go cruising this weekend anyway? This weekend is BUI/ DUI USCG education/ enforcement. In other words stop everyone possible and "ask" permission to board the boat. I say "ask" because we all know you can't refuse their request. I personally hate this and feel it's a violation of my Rights. So they can come to my dock and ask permission to board.
Today the WX doesn't look as promising as yesterday, it's foggy, damp and there is little wind. Kind of a boring day so far......

I thought if you were at the dock, tied up and not underway you could refuse the request to board?
 
It was a gorgeous day in Stony Point. The breeze kept it from being too hot.
 
Add today's intense fog to the list of wonderful conditions so far. Yuk!
 
x2 on the fog. It wasn't bad till I hit the east side of Wantagh, then it was pretty thick. Just got back, hoping for better weather this weekend.
 
I was watching the radar all day. We missed a total washout by about 100 miles. We were in this weather pattern in the late 80s. I hate to be a Debbie downer, but that summer sucked.

I had enough and took a short ride with a bunch of people to Tobay. Heavy fog on the way there, then one brief shower. Poof! It cleared out and we had a nice afternoon and evening. Just got back. Bay was like glass this evening.

Looks like this weather pattern breaks on the 4th but who knows. I really hope you are wrong Billy! I'm sure you do too!
 
Glad to hear you salvaged the day, we were at a local restaurant (by car) when it cleared. Worst summer start in years. I think 1996 started like this, but I could be off by a year or two. The wind alone has been unbearable, especially fun with the new to me single diesel / inboard. I'm surprised that my wife hasn't left me. :)
 
You guys complain too much ;) 2 weekends ago I was fishing offshore in perfect conditions, sunny skies and just a light breeze. Nice conditions the next day coming home also. Last weekend I was at Sailors Haven and had a great day at the beach Saturday and stayed overnight and had a nice ride home Sunday. Yesterday was a beautiful day out on the bay. Today wasn't so great and my fishing plans got cancelled, but it hasn't seemed so bad to me. Maybe could be a little warmer and slightly less wind, but it's not like every weekend has been a washout.
 
In spite of the dreary forecasts we headed out to Sheepshead Bay around 1-2 on Saturday and spent the night at the commercial dock. It turned out to be a decent day/night and when we woke on Sunday there was no wind to speak of which made the ride back to Tobay pretty easy in 2-3' (occasional 4') seas (~2hrs dock to dock).

I guess the games this summer will be second guessing the weather reports, which tend to be more on the conservative side, and planning trips that allow for riding out the t-showers that do come our way.
 
Sheepshead Bay? Interesting destination. Never thought of staying over there but truly great restaurants in that area. How was it?
