If your instincts have told you the 2009 boating season has had more than its share of lousy days; you are right. The Channel 7 weather guys said it is the third worst season for rain, fog, and cold since weather record-keeping began. I don't remember a decent weekend from April till June, and even July & August were kind of marginal for full weekends.
Hope the remainder of the season brings some relief.

Safe and Happy Boating!

The weekend of April 25 - 25 was fantastic, 90 degrees and sunny.

Sunday & Monday of Memorial Day weekend were nice.

The weekend of July 18 - 19 was sunny and warm.

The weekend of August 15 - 16 was fantastic, 90 degrees and sunny.

The rest were either cold, rainy, windy or a combo of all three.

Lawyers!
He has a record of everything.
Mike, How many beers did you drink this year?

That's right, June 6-7 was a nice weekend. I got sunburned at my son's graduation ceremony!

Dave, I only had one beer this summer.

Hmm. Only one beer? Move on to the hard stuff or wine?

By the way, we were down to Haverstraw today. We stopped in at West Marine and they did not have what we needed but that was not the point of the trip. We stopped in at Haverstraw to have lunch since the weather was so good today. I have to admit the tables on the deck are nice, and we had a great one overlooking the river. But that's where the good news on this stops.
The food sucked.
When the menu showed up they had an AHI TUNA Burger on the menu. It was 8.95. Me thinking that's cheap avoided it and went for the regular angus burger. Both were a mistake. Mike (I believe it was you that warned folks about their burgers, please correct me if I am wrong!) you were right. The burger sucked and they left off the cheese and bacon I asked for. The tuna burger was a ground up wad of fish that contained who knows what.
But we were down there to see what Bowline looked like. It was a nothing to do kind of day, so let's have lunch on the river down south, check the marine store down there and then look over bowline for kicks.
They wanted Thirty Five Freaking dollars apiece for us to park the car and hang out there for the day, even tho it was only going to be an hour or so. Anyway, we made it home just in time for the explosion from the bad food at Haverstraw.
Gonna be a long while before we go there again.

But now, we sit here with a home made Marguerita, and life is good again... I was going to post a lunch time photo but geeze after that I just can't bring myself to do it. At least the view was good, and better from storm king mountain road.

By the way, West Point is closed to traffic since 9/11. Swell.

I have not eaten there yet, but my wife went last week with friends and order the pulled pork sandwich. She found three large bone shards any of which were good choking hazards. Needless to say she has no desire to return any time soon.
Hope you enjoyed you visit our little slice of heaven.

Yeah, I had the problem with them being unable to cook my hamburger correctly. That place really seems to be hit or miss, and when they miss, they miss BIG TIME!

You'd think for a place with so much invested they'd put on a better act. I guess they figure to have a captive market because of the location. I'll spend 15 bucks in the Bahamas for a burger, and it will be fresh ground, loaded with goodies. There's no comparison.
Ship To Shore makes a great burger also.

I think it's time for a boat trip to Torches'.

I have never had a bad meal there... yet..

Oh yeah,
Our vacation had good weather except whe it rained for a few hours one day and rain one night. July 3rd - July 20th.

Bob, it was very chilly at night, and there were showers several nights. Far from the perfect weather we were used to.

It sure beat raining almost every day like June was Mike.

Bob there are a few places there that put effort into their food and service. I suspect because of competition, they work a bit harder. Too bad haverstraw doen't have any near by the marina. Things would probably change.

Sounds like the new place at Haverstraw can take a few lessons from Yanni's Too here at Coeymans!

I'll stick with the grill on my boat, the pad thai on Bob's boat and the "pie-yay" on Bobby's boat.

Looks like the weather gods will smile on us for Labor Day weekend. I'm heading for Sandy Hook, NJ for a few days on the hook.

Safe and Happy Boating!
