NY Boat Show

Funny thing Mike,
I never met him.... He calls me and says: " ok I will be there on xxxxx at yyyy " I say ok let me know how it goes.... I trusted him that I did not need to be there, Just me..... had a good feeling about him and he did not let me down..... As a matter of fact I paid him more than he charged me..... He sent me a letter with a refund for the over payment.... I would not of ever known.....

When all was said and done.....SIBs gave me a perfect boat and I never saw them again.....

Having a new boat survey is a no brainer......

but not after the ski house...

It would be a good WOW if I was rich :} Remember that used one 2006 in Brick NJ, asking 599K but would take 550k, and that boat was full loaded (electronics). On boats of this price (new ones) do they come with all the electronics or is that additional?

As I recall, it did have a list of optional items that were included "free".

I'm sure they throw in props, shafts, rudders and such..;-)
 
It's true, Al is not bound by roads. We actually took the plane from Danbury, CT to Warwick, RI. I picked up the tab for the flight but offset the time and gas I would have spent driving, throw in the "wow factor" and most importantly, Al's reputation (I've used him before) and it was a no-brainer. Well wort a few extra bucks to be guaranteed a good surveyor as opposed to the crap shoot of an unknown.

Option B was for Al to drive but understandably, he would have charged extra for his time and it would have made for an extra long day...as it is, the survey took about 6 hrs.

Attended the boat show saturday. Spent 7 hrs roaming around.... Got there first thing hot the big guns... azmit and sunseeker... Very unimpressed.... did the formula, cruiser , meridian and the Searay.....

I was really scared at what i saw... The 39 meridain was nice... the small searays were very disappointing...

As were all the formula's.. who designs these helms??

The 40 someting silverton at the show was really nice.... But cant remeber if that was theboat with the dash that went open and down...

so that one boat and the two large searays were nicest of the show .... ( IMHO )

Oh and i liked the two cruiser sales guys that were IPS clueless...

that was ver amusing,,,,

appeared to be less booths though... I didnt see the BIG RAYMARINE and northstar displays.

Did anyone see FREEPORT MARINE at the show... I thik west marine might be doing there bussiness in...

that would be a shame...

I think Freeport Marine was there, and they are listed on the exhibitor list. I would hope they are still doing okay as they have a lot of things you can't find at West.

I noticed the big electronic companies weren't there, at least not Furuno, I wanted to check out the new radars.
 
yes..Freeport marine was there. I agree....be a shame to loose them.

Silverton was impressive...Sea Ray was not.

Just bought my daughter a car.....no boat for daddy this year. Maybe next year.....if she stops talking about this marriage thing. I thought she knew better.
 
Attended Saturday. I thought the Tiara 3900 Sovran was awesome. (mid-cabin wasn't long enough on one side though) Also liked the look and feel of Cobalt 323. Very disappointed to see that most 30-32 foot boats really can't sleep 4 adults comfortably, either forward berth too small or mid-cabin was. My 26 can. 31 Formula was joke for sleeping quarters, and they were asking $176K for the 27 PC! New 31 Sear Ray not bad, but there were some things I just didn't like. Overall impression- new boats are way overpriced and you don't get a really decent built boat for your money in most production lines. Oh- salespeople and dealerships suck.

Did u see the rumble seat on the 31 already hada tear in the from misalignment.
and that dash.... OH MY ....

Also the Grab rail leading out the windshield looks like it will get very annoying to look at ...

Butthe rumble seat is a good idea.. needs to be finished better...

oh and the 2 cent switches on the 26 dancer .. WTF is that .... i thought toggle switch's were like an 80's thing...

Yeah, the rough look of the fiberglass around the rumble seat got lots of negative comments.
 
I just spoke to my buddy over at searay...
He said the toggles tested in focus groups better then the pods...

Also said they have heard of no issues or complaints with the rumble seat....

He's a striaght shooter has no problem stating issues and crap ass designs that they comeup with...

so maybe its just us ...

Freeport Marine was definitely there but I think in a smaller booth than in the past.

I had a long talk with the guy from Essex credit that did my financing and he said the cost of exhibiting is rediculous.
