What's the experience with 19-21 ftr cener consoles MAKO. Vintage Late 70's-late 80's? And any feel late 90's merc vs yamaha?

That old, have it surveyed. I would rather have a Yamaha.

i have an 86 and it is a tank...actually it is for sale.

the biggest problem with hulls are rotten transoms and soft spots in the floor.

merc vs yamamha....at that age if it still runs good i am not sure there would be to much difference. our original yamaha was replaced about 5 years ago, but i know there are many still running.

in the mid 80's depending on model they changed the hull design. i have ridden on both and prefer teh new one with the chines...it seems drier to me.

My son has a 1979 19' with a 88hp Johnson. I payed $1800 for it four years ago and it is still going strong.

I had a Mako 19/Merc 115hp for several years then sold it years ago. I was later told the "bottom fell out it" when the yard was using their fork lift to move it for one of the successive owners. It always was an extremely wet boat for the occupants and had a full bow-dodger, bimini & clear-connector combination. I used it a lot but it was probably the least favorite of all my boats. Slight deadrise provided a fairly rough ride.

sandy -- depending on your year model they did have shallow bottom...especially at that size.

if i were to buy one to be a bay or offshore boat i would go with a slightly bigger hull. my 23 has kept us dry when much larger boats have gotten wet
