having a problem with server, Im moving them now...
 
I would think a power surge would have more damage towards rear of boat.
Seems like flybridge burned.
 
I think they opened it to put a pump in it. There is a hose comming out from there..
 
I think Toxic John can match the gelcoat and get her looking good as new.

No problemo.
 
Such a sad thing to see. Even with a boat as tacky as On Your Mark was.
 
Good catch Butch. I was wondering why anyone would have been going in there as it came up.

It's a fixer upper. Real shame but I glad no one got hurt other then financially.

I'm surprised there is so much left of the boat maybe there is still hope to find the cause, will be interesting if you do.

Heat rises... So do flames. Topsides and bridges are always burned up the most...

As to the damage to the rear it depends on where the electrical gear affected by the surge is located.
 
I agree. I assume the power cord and its connections and the power post will all be key pieces of evidence.

Let this go out as a lesson to alot of boaters on here because I see this everywhere, in every marina.
Splitters are designed a certain way and can cause overloads.
Remember, your insurance company if you have a fire is going to look for reasons not to cover you!
Treat your power cords well, check for knicks in the cord, etc.
 
It appears the fire started in the salon area and burned straight up. I look forward to the final results of the investigation. With the extent of the damage and being submerged for a good time this will be a very tuff one to call.

It's also important to check the contacts. They should be clean, free of dirt and corrosion. Not sure but I think dielectric grease once in a while is a good thing also.
 
Why do the props have bags over them? Keep them from getting scratched maybe? Probably the only thing left worth salvaging...

Based on what? What if the surge damaged the battery charger and the batteries went up after being cooked to death. As Pascal pointed out once the fire starts the heat rises and every thing above is going to melt.

One never knows I agree there is reason for suspicion but lets let the pros try to figure it out before we convict the poor guy.

They were air bags used to help raise the stern.
 
A reputable Cause and Origin Investigator will be able to trace down where the fire started. If the electrical system is suspect the wiring will tell the tale and a little saltwater will not wash that away.
