Anyone ever stay at Tisbury Warf in Vineyard Haven Harbor? I am looking at 3 days this summer. Would like to go to Vineyard Haven and stay in a marina. Blackdog Warf and Vineyard Haven Marina look nice but have 35-40ft miminum charges. I would rather not pay for 5 feet of boat I don't own.

Location looks good on the map. Just looking for some first hand opinions.

Thanks...

Been there several times. More industrial like than the Blackdog/Vineyard Haven Marina. They frequently host larger vessels (up to 200 ft in length). I prefer Tisbury Wharf docking with your stern to the harbor gives you a wonderful picturesque view of the harbor and the Blackdog and Shanandoah swinging on their moorings. Tisbury Wharf is a slightly longer walk to town (about 5 mins longer). The bathroom and shower facilities there are clean/great. The Net Result (seafood) is right across the street. Love getting a dozen oysters and heading back to the boat to enjoy them with a cold beer or glass of wine. Remember that VH is a dry town so byob. Most restaurants will provide you glasses and serve your byob favorite libation with dinner. Check out the fuel prices at the Texaco station adjacent to Tisbury Wharf - they usually are some of the lowest on the islands. If you have any other specific questions. Let me know.

Ted, thanks. I looked at the ariel photos on Marinas.com I was worried that it was a little too industrial. Do you tie to a pier or do they have slips? Looks like it's more toward the opening to the breakwall. How is the boat traffic/wake situation? Does it get rockey with boat traffic or a north wind? Very glad to hear that the bathroom facilities are up to par. Are you aware of any laundry facilities in the area that might pick-up/drop-off? I am told that some liquer stores will deliver, is that so?

Thanks again for the response. I did make a reservation and it sounds like you like it.

Tie up is to a pier(s) - no slips. No problem with wakes/boat traffic. With any wind or forecast of wind I always try to tie up on the leward (downwind) side of the pier. The wind then keeps me off the pier and seems to work well.

Don't know of laundry facilites that drop/off deliver. Would check directly with the marina in VH.

Some liquor stores will deliver, but can be fun just to grab a cab or bus and go to adjacent Oak Bluffs to shop.

Yes we liked it and have stayed there several times.

Ted
