Anyone know of a good repair shop for a Mercury 4HP outboard? I am not getting fuel to the carb. I inspected the fuel filter, which had no debris in it. I also noticed that the carb's jet was plugged and sprayed carb cleaner on it and depressed the gunk down with a needle. When I put starting fluid in the carb, the engine starts right up, pumps water and shuts down after burning off the starting fluid.

Anyone got any suggestions...?

May be stilled gunked up or it now needs to be adjusted?

Rebuild the carb, worked for me. Pretty easy to do. I'm guessing the needle valve is stuck closed.

I've gotten suggestions about blowing air through the fuel line, but not too much. I'll give that a try. Getting the carb off is a puzzle. There's not enough clearance to lift and pull it away. But will try another suggestion in removing it. Beyond that, a repair shop in Cold Spring has been recommended. It probably needs a fuel pump rebuild, is what I'm thinking.

I bought the repair manual from boatfix and it has the step by step procedure.

I had the same problem as you and rebuilding the carb has solved it.
