Anyone know what's happening in the Pamlico Sound regarding fishing? I'm a newbie located up one of the coastal creeks. Last year I was able to catch Puppy drum and Speckled trout fairly regularly plus an occasional flounder throughout the seasons. My creek was full of jumping mullet and crabs, spot and croakers would always be there to steal your bait.
This year the creek seems to be fish free. Neighbors have the same complaint. Last month a commercial trawler in Oriental NC was cited and fined for having 26,000 lbs of flounder. . . far above the limit of 10,000 lbs. Don't know how common this is but wonder if the sound is overfished to a rediculous degree.
