Pascals 53'

Yeah, but Pascal, you have to admit the man has superb tastes when it comes to boats!

Bill2, come over to Westport this summer and you can experience that perception in reality!

Thanks, George. My Mother used to say 'be careful what you wish for' :). I am an hour from Wesport and I just may take you up on that.

Bill 2, I can attest to the fine hospitality George and Ann provide. And to what a nice boat they have.

Please note: Bill1 brought lots of good beer, plus snacks: hospitality provided directly proportional.

Thanks for the compliment Bill. After a few Yuenglings our boat does look pretty good.

We saw Kim and Craig of Prestige Lady the other night; hear you got a new project: congratulations!

George

Yes, they mentioned you said hello. Did you get a chance to hang out and see "their" boat?

Your boat looked pretty good before the first beer to me.

And yes we got the boat. Now the fun begins. I'll send you pics from time to time if you like. And of course you and Ann are welcome aboard any time. (I'll try to give you a heads up on when we have the chef aboard. She is also a trained masseuse. :-) )

Here is my new office:

It will be a few months before it will be up and running like that again though.

Nice "Project Boat" ! I'm rubbing elbows with the "BIG DOGS" here! lol

It's a 90' aluminium boat built by Dover. Don't bother Googling it, they one built this one.

It was owned by a high end home sharing club called Solstice. http://www.sherpareport.com/destination-clubs/solstice.html

They are going through a reorganization and the boat came up for sale. The guy I'm working with is a member of Solstice and he ended up buying the boat. The boat is in the yard at the moment where they had started to do a reconditioning on her. The paint job is about 90% done. But there is a lot of other work that was either started and needs to be finished. Or never started and still needs to be done.

For example: install teak decks, new bimini or hard top, new HD SAT TV system, new flat screen TVs and audio system, interior upgrades and redesigns, upgrade the aircon system, add mold treatment systems to the air handlers, enlarge and refresh the crews quarters, add a dive compressor, add interior lighting, change to LED lighting, rebuild one main engine, replace one of the gensets, finish the paint job, bottom paint, get the tenders up and running, etc., etc.

Here are some pictures:

Saloon (More than likely we are going to move the bar and make it smaller. While putting a 50-60" pop up flat screen behind where the bar is now.)

As you can see there is a lot of work to do.

I guess I could start a new thread and folks could follow along as we go if anybody is interested?

interesting project... please do start a new thread, we can all learn something!!

Yeah, like how to spend money hand over fist! :-)

But I'll start a thread next week when we get going. Anything in particular anybody is interested in?

sure, painting, how the wood work gets designed and done, aluminum hull inspection and repair details and what in the world happened to the engines?????

The engines look worse than they are. Well one at least. They removed the injectors, raw water pumps and charge air coolers. So all that has to be reinstalled. The stbd engine has low compression in the 4 rear cylinders. So we will either do a total rebuild or just those 4. The port is fine.

The hull will be ultrasound tested just before we paint the bottom.

I'll take lots of pictures of any wood work we do. As well as most everything else.

I would really enjoy following the new thread! It's a one of a kind and a very interesting project. Thanks

Tiki -- maybe you and i should take a trip to see pascal....with a few gal. of diesel and a couple of frosties, maybe we can score ourselves a first rate tour and boat ride.

Sounds good lets go!

Capt. Bill1,

I look forward to following your thread on the projects. What a beaut she is. I'll be interested in the electronics upgrades. It'll be a great education.

Bill, you're probably disappointed that you didn't get a 1986 pontoon boat like mine, but buck up. I'm sure you can suffer through.

(Seriously, looking forward to your thread. A little vicarious living never hurt anybody, right?)

will be in touch....maybe in june or july...business should slow for me in those months.

i would bring all the frosties i could for a tour of pascals 53.

sounds like a weekend in miami to me.
