Patchogue Boat Xmas Parade

Great time, hundreds of people and a lot of fun. Parade starts at 6:00 pm and can be viewed from many bars and locations on the river. 30 boats this year and I am honored to have santa aboard. Come down and enjoy.

Twas a cold cold windy night.
Winds were 25mph sustained and 40mph gusts.
Not a boat shall be out in this.
But Capt. Bill took to the wheel.
A big wheel that is, on a boat with no enclosure.
With big fat santa and his loaded sleigh.
With cold santa helpers.
With 3 foot waves on the bay.
No moon to guide him.
Just Rudolphs Green and Red lights!
But we made it thru.
Noone hurt, no boat damage, and lots of happy little kids!
And in the end a Trophy to boot!
Great job to all and Capt. Bill!

My hat's off to all of the participants; t'was not a night to be on the water. Happy Holidays to all. Hy

How many boats participated in that weather??

I think there was like 16 boats. Alot did drop out from the parade but were still decorated, they just sat in the marina at slip safely. Personally I would not of gone if I was in parade on any boat smaller than 40'. It was just too rough and windy.
There was one a couple of incidents, I don't have details.
One boat did run aground, looked like he got to far to east side of Patchogue river entrance, it gets shallow there.
Another boat said he lost control of his boat, but he recovered.
I also heard one boat on radio say he was overheating, picked up a bag on outdrive, but he recovered too.

Considering conditions, it went very well. Better than I would of thought!

Dave,

Thanks to you and Ginny for coming aboard and making a great night better. I don't think the poem rhymes but it is really nice. The conditions couldn't have been much worse except if it started to snow, but with a great crew no one got hurt, no damage to Dead Reckoning, and Santa got off safely.
Thanks for your help.

Beautiful! It's probably a lot easier to do when the weather isn't frigid!

Yeah I tried to rhyme but I ain't no poet!

I sent Marie a email about the Connetquot river parade, that is this Saturday.

If you need a place to store some of that crap, my basement has some room. That is where I kept that tree! Let me know if you need help!

I am sure a florida parade is alot easier to pull off.

Hi Dave,

We already cleared off the cabin top.I didn't want everything getting all wet and then freeze up there. Funny how nice today is, I still can't believe how nasty Sunday night was.

We have room for all this stuff, thanks for the offer. And again thanks for the help at the parade.

After winning the "coveted" peoples choice award again, maybe you Florida guys should be checking me out. HaHaHa
