Here are the details. This event is open to the public. Bring your boat and join the parade or just stop by the club and meet lots of fun loving boaters! Santa arrives at 4PM. Parade begins about 5PM.

Looks almost as good as ours will be!

No seriously - looks fabulous, and even better - well organized. Wish I could get up there for it.

Ours this year has so much participation that it has been capped, although some people say it was locked at one hundred boats and others say two hundred - who knows? But either way that's an amazing crowd for a small canal with a shallow turning basin. Good news is it'll be easier to hand drinks from boat to boat!

Has yours been limited, or do you have enough room that doesn't become an issue?

We have never had to cap any of our parades----just our Crab Feed in January! Since the parade route circles Bethel Island, there is plenty of room for boats large and small. Last year we had 25 boats... that seems to be a nice size. Sometime it has to be canceled if it is too windy or very foggy. But it has been a long time since a parade has been canceled.

If you don't want to be outside to see the parade, there are three restaurants along Piper Slu which offer great views: The Landing; Paradise at Sugar Barge; and Rusty Porthole. After seeing everyone off at the YC, I'm heading over to Paradise for some freshly made French Onion Soup and watch the parade. Their soup is perfect for a chilly night!

52 is a LOT of BOATS for that area! WOW, I'm impressed!

Of course, tonight it will be cold, and perhaps windy. At least there will be no fog and the skies will be clear! I'm looking forward to seeing my friends after spending the last month housebound. And I will be so happy to be back onboard Flutterby!

Happy Holidays everyone.........

We were at Caliente last night when 'a' parade came by - was that you guys?

Yes. It turned out to be rather scrawny---only 8 boats, including the fire boat and Vessel Assist. The Coast Guard was a no show. It was windy and cold, but I expected more participation! We usually get several boats from Discovery Bay, but that didn't happen this year......

Maybe there weren't a lot of boats, but the ones that were there looked fabulous! At least some of you really had the spririt! It really was windy out there. It was hard to sleep last night with all the racket caused by the wind!

I don't mind the wind. Yes it is noisy, but I enjoy the rocking of the boat. Puts me right to sleep! Next year maybe a group of Caliente boats will join us in the parade........

Cape Coral, FL had their 31st annual boat parade last night. 20 knot winds and temps in the upper forties cut it down to about 100 boats. Thousands of people lined the shores of the canals to watch it but the spectator fleet was much smaller this year. This was my first year in the parade. Had a dozen people on my boat and everyone really enjoyed themselves.

Gees Nick, it was colder than hell for that parade. Many of us left early as the wind was just too much. It is also tough to control the boats in the wind in a small canal, at least in the lake it was less dangerous.
