places to anchor above Sacramento

Has anyone had any experience with anchoring above Sac. on the river? I would like to do some exploring after the Jazz Festial later on this year. We have anchored on the American but would like to go up further.

Before docking at the Riverbank marina which is about one mile north of the American river, we anchored on the other side of the river just in front of the marina. We then used the dinghy to explore both the Sacramento and the American rivers. It was great.

I'm surprised there have not been more suggestions posted. I've never anchored further then the west bank near the I Street Bridge......

I have also only anchored on the American River and cruised just up river about a mile. It is a trip I also would like to take someday and do some exploring. Haven't heard to much over the years about anything above Sacramento area though. Hopefully someone with experience writes in.
