Hello...
As a relatively new boater in the Sandusky area I am always looking for cool places for short trips for dinner, breakfast, etc.

Of course I know about Kelleys Island, Lymons, Cedar Point...

But are there any other places that might not be so well known to boat up to for a meal, etc. I've tried googling but did not find much. I've asked a few people in my Marina, but have not had much luck.

Thanks in advance.

a decent one to try is The Mariner Restaurant at Marina Del Isle on East Harbor (Marblehead). Plus, you can go to TGI Fridays back by Castaway Bay...pretty good place as well. Both of these are accessible by boat btw. And don't forget that there are several restaurants in/at Cedar Point...not just Famous Daves and Bay Harbor.

I take my 34' Silverton to Damon's at Battery Park marina. As you enter the marina there is a wall you can dock at (first come first serve) to your starboard side.

Go over to Port Clinton, dock at the public dock and walk over to Travelers. It is next to the Jet Express dock. The owner is an excellent chef.

I totally forgot about Damons...Good restaurant with a great view

Thanks a ton so far...

New question though...I have been told that the water is pretty skinny going back to TGI Fridays? In fact I can see what looks like a deserted Marina from the road.

I have about a 3 ft draft and can raise my drives a bit...but shallow water always seems to stress me out.

the channel back to Fridays is marked...plenty of bigger boats back there. Just follow the channel until you get to the marina (Castaway Bay Marina) and you'll be fine

I was at Damon's Saturday night, mmmmmmmmmmmmm good food!

I won't go all the way to Friday's wall again - even with the improved water levels. I prefer playing it safe by tying up at Castaway and walking around to Friday's.

Yeah I like playing it safe...but thanks so far for the options...maybe some more folks will join in.

I have not been there, but am told there are a couple places just inside the Huron River mouth.

Bill those places are closed. The same people that run the restaurant on the Vermilion River tried to open a place on the Huron River called The Old Plat. They took over the building from the previous people that attempted to open a restaurant. Unfortunately, on the surface, things didn't change much. You would walk in, nobody sat you, nobody knew who was serving which tables and the food was not that good. They lasted two seasons and boarded up.

Does Gem Beach have a restaurant? We frequently dine on the veranda at Cafe Wervey, Cheap prices but very limited menu. About 25 min inside West Harbor.

If you get a slip at Anchors Aweigh or the state park marine you can eat at Mel's Crows Nest or Crabby Joes. The Crow's Nest is 100 yards from the marina and Crabby Joe's is on the water. We canoe over to Nagoya(Japanese) quite a bit the water is too skinny to get the boat in there.

I still think my favorite is West Bay on Kelley's.

Chris,
That's a long row back into Lost Lake to get to Nagoya. Where do you launch the canoes from?
Bill

Bill,
We have a house just down from Anchors Aweigh Marina. I think it takes us about 40 minutes in the canoe to get to Nagoya. Always a good time.

Chris

Chris,

We are just down the way in the canals at West Harbor Lagoons. I'm just getting ready to leave work here in Cleveland and get heading that direction.

Bill

Bill,
Hey,
We're almost dock neighbors! We spent Friday at the Boardwalk and left for Kelley's about noon on Sat. We were at Portside when the storm blew through. Overall, it was still a nice weekend.

Chris

We are leaving Lake St.Clair on Friday June 27 to spend 2 weeks at various ports in Lake Erie.

If someone knows the name of the restaurant that "Matt" thought was good and was trying to remember at Gem Beach we wouldn't mind checking it out. We will be at Gem Beach for June 30th and July 1st.

Does anyone know if the improvements to the docks and washrooms at McGarvey's Landing in Vermilion has taken place?

We have reservations for three boats at Cedar Point for Friday July 4th. All three boats are 30 foot in size, is there a more preferred location at Cedar Point to be if you are a transient? I understand additional transient docking has been added since we were there about 4 years ago.

Thanks,
Mike.
