I am sitting on my boat docked along side "Purely Pleasure". It is the custom Express Cruiser owned by the fortunate sole who owns this Marina (not too jealous). Awesome boat.
They are putting back 2 of the 4 diesel engines which power her. Mechanic says 60 mph. Not bad for 83' cruiser...

Saw this boat on cover of Ches Bay Magazine last year.

About the Marina: I came here to check it out. Possibly looking to relocate my boat. I heard they are trying to do major renovations-- big indoor storage building for boats. Able to haul out big boats-- including big Sportfish.
Well, no construction. Maybe hold up with permits? That is what fuel dock said.

Plenty of shelter back here. Gotta love the land--plenty of parking. Water deep in some places, but looks live 5 or 6 feet of water around dock. Not too deep.

Long, long 6 knot trip to bay. Probably 1/2 hour. I admire the owner and his spirit. He haws rebuilt all the docks. New piers with tall pilings and 1st class wiring/ water/ etc. All fixed docks.

Anybody have thoughts?

I know very little about the marina itself, but we try to visit the restaurant there (used to be call the Cheshire Crab, now called Prop something-or-other) at least once a year. I like the place. 5' to 6' around the docks is not a problem for us as we draft only 3'. The 1/2 hour cruise is a bummer, but many places are getting like that. We're up at Cutter Marine on the Middle River now and we have a 20 min. 6 mph run. One nice thing about Bodkin Creek is that it's close to about everything. Annapolis, Severn River, Magothy River, etc. are fairly close at hand. A hop, skip, and jump and you're over to Kent Narrows or Rock Hall.

We propably go there once a year. Last year after it chnaged from Cheshire it seemed to be slower. They told us already last year that they were adding to their dry stack. Same story, they said for much bigger boats then ours (at that time a 44' Regal), I just smiled, thinking they will have a tough time finding enough 40+ footers to fill it. Who wants the wheight of a 40+ footer sitting on rails, fridge and icemaker not running, acs may need priming etc, etc, etc. Might work for go fasts in that size, but for crusiers and sport fisher, I don't know.

As for "Purely Pleasure" that is one hideous abomination, but that is just me. Everybody recognizes her though.

TOM:: I'm surprised at you having the CHOICE slip at Pod. that you would consider changin. We weren't happy when Charlie, said there was no more room in the inn, but I also was hapy with our change, and believe maybe it was for the better.
I have been to Pleasure, and think it is a fine place, if you don't mind the ride to the Bay, which as you know,,,you are spoiled being on the Bay. I don't know what is easier for your drive, so that might play into the situation. Hell come down to Chesapeake Yacht Club and look there if the drive is not a factor, we have made some good friends , and power is the way there....
Good luck if you are thinking of moving, and hope to catch you on the Bay.

It would be good to have covered high dry near Annapolis. NONE around for boats bigger than 23 feet or so. Dusty, I live in your neighborhood now.

Every time we see her anchored (usually at Still Pond...outside that is) I want to pull along side and order a Big Mac with Fries (for those that haven't seen her, she's painted in McDonald's colors).

However, I need to state that we had a very bad time in Still Pond a few weeks ago with people water skiing and running on plane not 50' from us (mostly locals as we saw their boats the next day on lifts near the entrance). The owner of Purely Pleasure came by on his huge dingy, completely at idle, and waved. At least he's got common sense and decency. (I guess I'll skip that Big Mac and Fries :-)
