Plumbed-in water heater bypass

I'm considering installing a plumbed-in a water heater bypass to my boat's fresh water system to make future winterizing easier. The cold-in and hot-out pipes are PEX without any quick connects, so I'm not working with flexible hose material. Here's a link to a drawing of the system I'm considering installing:

Has anyone done anything like this on their boat? Anyone see any problems with it?

Try this Camco permanent bypass kit, does the same as your diagram. You can adapt the Pex to work with it, I did.
