Porta-Potti & Holding tanks

Paul and Tony,
My Silverton has a porcelain toilet atop a 9 gallon holding tank. The tank is plumbed to a Y-valve, macerator and thru hull fitting on one branch and the deck pumpout fitting on the other. 9 gallons wasn't large enough for our needs so I did the following.

I Installed a 24 gallon holding tank below the galley sole between the stringers. The 9 gallon tank empties into the 24 by way of a macerator and the 24 is then plumbed to the Y valve which again goes to the pumpout deck fitting and a 2nd macerator with a thru hull. Both tanks have a vent line and the system has worked perfectly for me since I installed it over 3 years ago.

It took some work and some $$ but it was worth it...

Tony,I have not done the install yet. Still formulating my plans. I will post my results if I do it. I plan to have the new holding tank in the engine room and plumbed just to the deck fitting.

Tony,
I keep the boat at Sunset Harbour - formerly Dockside 500 on the Mud Creek. Been up and down the Swan river many times though in the dink and kayak. I find the little creeks and rivers nicer than the commercial ones like the Patchogue River.

I'll also have ties to Virginia in another week as my oldest daughter will be a freshman at Lynchburg college. I need to find some place to boat around there now too...
