Does anyone know what the correct engine temperature should be on a 4.3L Mecruiser with Closed cooling. There is no sea-water pump, so the raw water gets pulled/pushed by the pump in the Alpha 1 outdrive. The boat is a 1988 Sea Ray Sundancer 270 with twin engines. Both are running about midway between the 145 and 200 marks on the gauge, which would be about 190F. I don't know what thermostat is in the engines, nor what they should be, but being FWC/Closed I imagine thay are about 160-170. The exhaust elbows are new on both engines.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Mickey

Closed cooling on a 4.3 will have a 160 degree t-stats from 1987 and up. Normal indicated temp would be around 175-180.
