I have an 89 Mercruiser 454 Bravo 1, SN 0C661288 with a remote oil filter. Recently one of the lines developed a leak from rubbing against the valve cover.
I've ordered all new hoses - there are three: 8.5", 44", and 36" long. The parts diagram shows the 8.5" and 44" connected to the oil cooler and the 36" attached to the remote filter adapter on the block.
Based the diagram, my engine had the wrong hose (36" instead of 44") connected to the oil cooler which is why it was rubbing on the engine.
Unfortunately the diagram does not show how the lines are routed. I'm wondering if the hose mixup is just a length issue and not a flow issue.
Does know how these hoses should be routed between the block, cooler, and filter?
