After much decisions, I have agreed to get my daughter a puppy for her sweet 16 (and a car). So I am the proud father of newly adopted labradoodle that was rescued from a puppy mill.

Congratulations on the newest addition to your family!

My 10 and 9 year old daughters have been asking for a puppy or kitten for about two years now. A couple of times when I was weak I've almost given in.

So far I've been able to hold off, but I'm not sure for how much longer!

They are in South Jersey though.
Good dog, cuase the love the boat, but should she less than normal labs.

When I was a kid mixed breeds where called...... MUTTS..... :) :) :) :)

congrats....and good luck ......You guys should look into getting pet health insurance. It's worth every penny.
 
Labradoodle is a Lab and a poodle.
Yeah its a mutt, but they get top dollars for these because people love labs but don't want them to shed.
So the mills are breeding them like crazy and when you get one or two that didn't turn out how you wanted, or you got too many, you gotta lose a few or they end up costing more in shots, food, etc, than the mill can sell them for.

Thats when the rescue companies step in and take them and try and adopt them out.

I knew from the start I would not take a dog from a breeder, store or mill. I saved what was a doomed puppy and got what I wanted!

Yeah.......Thats one thing about my lab......... he sheds like crazy. Sometimes his hair balls look like tumble weed on the boat. It was a good reason to get central vac.

How big will a Labradoodle get ???.....

You will have to hook up with me, I have a whole box of Macanudos!

This dog will get as big as a lab, though we did pick the runt out becuase he was not as rambunxios (spelling?) as the others.
 
Interesting info on this hybrid dog....

There are a few different ways breeders are producing American Labradoodles.

F1 = 50% Labrador and 50% Poodle - This is Lab to poodle cross, this is first generation, resulting in healthier offspring! Hair type can be smooth like a Lab, wirey look like a Irish wolfhound or Wavy/shaggy, they can shed or not shed, pups in the same litter can vary. This is not the best cross for people with severe allergies.

F1-B = 25% Labrador Retriever and 75% Poodle (F1 Labradoodle and Poodle cross) - This is Labradoodle bred back to Poodle, Wavy Curly shaggy look doodle very consistent in coat types. F1B is the MOST likely of any to be non shedding and Allergy friendly then ANY doodles and is the easiest coat to take care of.

F2 = F1 Labradoodle and F1 Labradoodle cross - this combination you get the same percentage of Lab Poodle mix as you would an F1 Labradoodle so they are more likely to shed.

F3 = F2 Labradoodle and F2 Labradoodle cross

Multi-generation = F3 or higher generation Labradoodle and F3 or higher generation Labradoodle cross - This is what the Australian Labradoodles usually are

Dave, that's awesome. I'm an animal lover and it's nice to see someone rescue a dog. Hope to see you on FI and I'll introduce my two, they love to play on the beach. How's Cruiser for a name?
 
He is a F2. He is Wavy coat.
He probably will shed some but not as much as a lab.
His feet are webbed so he will swim.
He, like I, can't wait to go on the boat!
He, like I, will use his cute looks to attract all the woman on the pier!
He, like I, likes a siesta in the afternoon.
He licks his b*lls, got me on that one!

Congrats... we had a regular dog shin dig at the anchorage saturday... yes walter and don too ....

WIfe laid down the law .. I cant walk the dog at the boat... CHICK MAGNET...

No, they breed a F1 Labradoodle, not blood related, to a Poodle.

Good thing she didn't want an F1 Ferraridoodle......
 
I am buying back the car I bought my son back from him, its a Hyundai Elantra.
My son, is buying himself a new car.
 
Anyone know how to buy these dog life vests.
My dog will obviously be large, but this whole summer he will be a puppy.
Do I need to buy a puppy vest, then switch to a large vest or will one size fit all?
