Pulling out all the fun.

Windy, windy, windy. Too windy today for me, but I did get some quality time with the manuals and figured a few things out. Tomorrow looks to be perfect too.
 
I brought my boat down from Newburgh and the wind was wipping up at times. Nice day however.

We made it out to Bowline and dropped a hook for the night. The wind is finally starting to lay down.
 
I'll admit it...I was a dock Mary today. I was talking to some go fast guys at the tiki bar at the restaurant, (I think they were part of a small group of cigarette boats that were going to make a run to the Statue of Liberty), they told me they got as far as the TZ Bridge and turned back because of the waves on the river.
 
Wind was strong but the Harbor was ok, boat managed nicely. We KILLED EM today. 16 stripers, smallest being 31", largest came in at 40". No one school, all huge fish, average was 36-37". Landed only 2 blue fish.

We were all set to anchor up with 4doz fresh clams and a doz fresh bunker. On our way to Rommer Shoal we were checking a few spots we know and found the mother load. Started the troll and killed em. Nobody else there we had our pick of the fish. Days like today you can only dream about.
 
John, we passed a few of those guys today. There were a number of speed boats at the statue, we just blew passed them, many were idling up river.
 
I love my job. I only need to be correct 50 percent of the time. At least I was able to get some work done on the boat and it was SUNNY out.
 
We had the fairly strong winds until late yesterday afternoon (Saturday). By evening there was -0- wind just North of Atlantic City. My wife and I were late getting to the boat because Friday we had my son's college graduation. This morning it looks as if it's going to be a great day to get out on the water. Now we just have to wait for the tide.

We had a awesome time yesterday!! We took Giggity out to watch the speed boat "fun run" - it was rough as hell. One of the speedboats was taking on water, another one stopped short in a wave and one of the passengers gashed his head open.

While we were out, another friend was on Hogan cooking us an incredible pasta meal.

Shortly after we got back, heard a May Day call from a boat right in front of our marina - boat on fire! Our son & two friends jumped on Giggity and went out to help - they ferried some of the marina workers with fire extinguishers and took a young boy off the burning boat! The PennyBridge staff reacted in record time and got the boat towed safely back in.

Next, was the horse race - won some money betting on First Dude - lots of fun watching it.

After the race, we see an ambulance come into the parking lot - a man waxing his boat in the parking lot had fallen off and injured himself..

Finally time to eat the delicious meal our friend made, along with some watermelon margaritas!

If only there wasn't so much wind...
 
It was a really relaxing night out with the exception of some rouge winds that came around 3am causing some loud hull slapping which woke me up but within a half hour things where back to flat and I was snoring away. Will probably move over to Croton today so the dogs can enjoy the shoreline chasing sticks and catching some waves. May even steal some time from work and stay till tomorrow morning before heading back in.
 
Freaking NW wind is starting to pick up again!
 
Mike, now your son and his friends will be known as Hogan's Heroes! Good for them.
There are some who would say "not my problem" and let it go at that. Your son and his friends took the necessary and proper actions, for which I'm sure you are proud.
 
Hogan's son Tim was at it again rescuing another boat today. Nice job Tim!
 
Beautiful day in Bowline today, just barely made it back in with low water.

Tim towed a boat from Nyack to Croton. He's quite a kid!
 
He should start up a new towing company!

Nice work Tim, it's good to know there are still people that are willing to help others.

What a day I wish every day could be this nice.
I finally went for a ride and took a shake down cruise, everything went well. BTW the swim platform doesn't dig in any way on or off plane. The reconditioned props are perfect. I fixed a fresh water leak. I even dragged the jet ski to the ramp to tow it out and have it serviced. Got a lot done and had fun doing it.

Rommer you are a brave man staying out last night. One of these days I will spend a night on the hook but I haven't done that in about 20 years. I guess I'm just chicken ****.
 
We're out again tonight. Will head in tomorrow before heading out to work.

We've always been a bit nuts about going out on the hook. Then again we would much rather be away from the dock than at the dock.
 
Spent the whole day on the water today. Went out with the boy in the morning and anchored just outside of Stony Point while I waited for the rest of the family to show up he did his his homework (that's right, he did his homework on the boat). Went back to pick them up around 1p when the wind was blowing. First time docking with wind in our slip and I have to say it went very well. Neighbors came over to grab a line and help me in. It's starting to click with me now.

Took the family and a few friends to Croton for some late lunch and then we headed down to the statue. Got there in 45 min., putted around and went up the East River a bit and them sprinted for home. Got in (with another uneventful docking) just as the sun was setting.

Absolutely perfect day!

I think I may have passed you as you were heading back into Haverstraw Marina yesterday. We were in the Silverton that passed you on your port side. If that was you that is one nice boat you managed to get...
