I thought I would see some buzz about Booker's proposed changes to Fox's/Duggan's,PIB Marina and Axel & Harry's by now.

Have any RO's joined?

Yep, we're in. 4M4L joined too. I'm not sure we'll use it, but it's a reasonable price even just as a back-up plan.

Any possibility of convincing you to pull the trigger?

Not yet Seth, Maybe next year though! We'll use it with you a couple of times to see if we like it better than Crew's Nest, but it would be hard to top Crew's Nest.

Yes, in fact, I lifted the above pic from the site. The site is basic at this point, and search engines haven't quite zeroed-in on in yet, so add .com to the name.

They appear to be taking the project much more seriously than they are their web presence, and since it's being driven by the family that owns The Boardwalk (among other PIB businesses), I'm inclined to take it seriously. (but I'm trying to restrain my optimism, because Ladd's spoke of a similar expansion a decade ago)

Axel & Harry's didn't open for the 2011 season, but the attached Put-In Bay Marina (formally Ladd's) was being operated separately, and remained in business. Plans for a new operation were announced at the Cleveland Boat Show. They plan to re-open the restaurant and create Key West-themed party patio in the former parking area labeled "Keys Complex" above.

They are leasing the current Fox's/Duggan's docks to expand the marina capacity this year. The physical expansion is planned for the 2013 season. As you can see above, that plan is to push the basin boundaries and entrance out to the pier usually occupied by the Good Time, and add floating docks within.

The big news is that unlike new members at The Crew's Nest, PPBC members will have the ability to reserve docks from the get-go. Perhaps not co-incidentally, a friend of mine who is a relatively new member at TCN was notified that his membership status has been advanced.

*Note: I have no inside source of information - this is just my impression from speaking with the proprietor and being familiar with the property.

Where can I get more info about this. I searched on-line and didn't find much. Is this a done deal?

I've noticed the same thing, but at least google searches are finding the website now. (yesterday it would only return this thread and some of the bands that are booked there for the summer)

I think a call to Eric Booker would be your best option to get the latest and most accurate info. I don't know if you can actually reach him at the phone number on the site (419.285.3695), but that's at least a good start.

It is my understanding they are going to try and sell 3 times as many memberships as dock spaces and I can only reserve 2 dates ahead of time and must use them before I can reserve more. Last year it was first come, first served. The previous dockmasters were not offered a job this year.

DDII is IN... as you (SLW) & now Kenny already know.. we are member #526.. (starting at 500 where the Boardwalk numbers left off)

We first saw mention at the CLE boat show & liked the plan they have in place.. Knowing it might be a stretch to get the expansion and the new docks in place for 2013.. and that we'd have to still dock at the old Ladd's location for 2012 was a bit of a concern.. but are hopeful that they will be as successful as they have been with the Boardwalk facility. We liked the option that we can at least book a weekend (actually 2) in advance for when we know we want to go there.. as opposed to waiting until Thursday or later to find out if it's a go or no go weekend.. The limit of just 2 weekends was only until at least one of the 2 were used... so, one might not want to book 'end of season' activity right at the 'beginning of season' for that reason..

We have received email correspondence from Jennifer (the office manager) & that we should be getting our packet in the mail in the next couple weeks... as noted, the info & website are limited at best still.. Last time we were there it was still Ladd's & we were w/Regal.. as opposed to DDII... but we do have fond memories w/our first Crew (Samantha & Sadie) at Ladds.. we've always loved the location right near the park & monument, but will be looking forward to the new floating docks when in place.. Do know that our slip neighbor joined last week too.. :)

I just sent in my membership form... does anyone know how long it takes to get a reply back from PPBC?

Thanks!

They're "running behind" with membership materials.

We also joined right after the boat show, put in a request for X-Mas in July, saw our credit card charge went thru but no word from anyone, called today and the office lady said we are in the system and we should get our info in about a week and they will try to honor dockage requests sent in with the application.Hoping all the planning they are doing comes to be especially the new docks and restrooms as well as the Key themed resteraunt.

We just pulled in there over the past weekend. Did not go ashore. Not much constuction in dockage area going on. The old docks in front of Axels & Harrys are stll shakey. No other work started on breakwalls.

Dock construction isn't slated until next spring. The "Keys Complex" (tiki bar facilities in the former A&H parking lot) is under construction. The old marina office and the winery building are gone, and existing buildings have been painted bright colors. The new buildings are up, but are not finished or operational yet.
