Looking to the pro's for the EASY way to winterize a couple 04 HONDA Aquatrax R12s. I am sure you have discovered some secrets to share. Or could point me to a prior post that indicates how. Thx!
Don

Can't help you with Hondas, but my Seadoo specifies ethylene glycol as the antifreeze to use, not propylene glycol. (green, not pink).

Come on guys, I can not believe everyone on this forum has never winterized a PWC.
Help me out here as I need to get this done this weekend.
Don
PS Thx Greg

I owned a PWC from 1988 to 1992. Unfortunately, I knoew nothing of "winterizing". Luckily, I never had a problem. I guess the engine was self draining or something. Lucky me!

No Honda here but I have two SeaDoo and all I did was add some fuel stabil in the tank and running it with water supply and spray fogging oil to the carb until it's blowing smoke out to the exhaust, turn off water supply while engine stills running at idle for approx 2-3 second while keep spray fogging oil, it'll stalls right around another second or two, then disconnect water supply and remove cooling hose at the head and poor pink coolant in until it run out at exhaust, pump some grease to the shaft/joint, then remove the battery cable and wrap it up. Been doing it since 96 and both fires right up on folowing spring.

I followed the instructions in the manual of my Kawasaki Jet-Ski.

Similar to DeeVee. Change oil, filter, and fog cylinders, remove battery. Mine calls for no antifreeze - when you are ready you simply turn off water supply and rev engine a few times to blow all water out of lines. I was worried the first time I did this as I wasn't sure it would be enough, but it works well.

Unfortunately no, bought them used and this was not provided.
I am off to HD to find a hose fitting to attach to a 5 gallon bucket for A-freeze. That plus a little elevation should do the trick.
Thx everyone!
Don

I run about i/2 gal straight antifreeze into the system. when I see antifreeze coming out the water discharge site, I'm done. I have to put hose clamps on several hoses per the manual to do it right. I don't know anything about the cooling system on your model. I guess we don't have many members here with the Hondas. Just remembered, have a friend with an Aquatrax. I'll see if I can get his manual.

Honda Aquatrax manual does not say how to. I have one and having same problem.

Well, my friend is out of town, so I don't have access to his manual anyway. Jodon, is there nowhere in the manual specifying end of season procedures?

Got it! On the port side, aft and just in front of the reversing gate, you'll se about a 3 inch barbed hose fitting with no hose on it. If you hook a 5 foot leght of hose to it and hold it up, you can pour anti-freeze into it and when you see antifreeze coming out the water discharge site, you're done. You don't have to clamp any hosed off with this model. The 5 foot ht. is important to generate enopugh pressure to force the anti-freeze thru. Like I said earlier, my Seadoo manual specifes ethylene glycol (green).

Greg, thats how I did it the last two years with no problem. 5 ft of hose standing on a ladder and pouring af into funnel into hose while running pwc. Only thing I dont know how to do is fog engine or run oil/gas mix through injectors. Anyone?

You don't need to run the engine while pouring in the anti-freeze. The ht. of the tube is enough pressure to push it thru the system.

It needs to be sucked into the sys I beleive. Gravity alone is not enough I dont think

Five foot hose is plenty of pressure for gravity feed--talked to a guy yesterday who does his Aquatrax that way every year.

OK Greg, what about fog engine or run oil/gas mix through injectors

I run my engine to flush with fresh water and fog thru the air intake until it dies. I put Stabil in the gas before the above. Shut fuel off while it is sputtering to empty the fuel system. Once Done with above, I let the antifreeze run in.
