regarding the bolted on arch, any chance that could be hinged and then just be rotated toward the stern and would this result in a lower height
for shipping.
Thanks for any ideas or comments
 
I would think it could be done...although that mounting leg is as long as the arch is tall, so it would have to be cut somewhere halfway up or so and hinged there.
 
Can't comment on the hinge part - but I do know that the arch on the 350 mariner is low enough that it doesn't have to be dissaembled for transport in the DFW area (just the stern light and bimini). Your shipping folks should be able to find the max height for the route you want - just a thought - may save your some PITA time. maybe, maybe not.
 
it is a really low arch...just a tad higher than the windshield...we've thought many times about trucking with it on, but always remove it as to not tempt fate.

i connect on the purchase of a mariner.
 
i had a carver shipped cross country last year. it didn't have an arch and the bridge did not have to be removed. however, the shipping company removed the windshield due to concerns with winds and travel speeds. what a PITA it was to reassemble. also, the boat arrived dirtier than i thought a boat could ever get. if i ever have another boat shipped, i'd leave the windshield in place and have the whole thing shrinkwrapped.
