Dave,

Have a few questions.

How did your 3880 handle in the ocean?
What engines did you have?
What did you cruise at and fuel burn rate?
Inside and Ocean?
Would you buy one again?
I see that the engine room hatches are in the cockpit, did you get alot of water in the engine room because of this?
How was it backing into a slip? Sight lines from the helm don't look like thay give much visability?
Does the windshield provide any blockage of the wind when no canvass up and boat is running at cruise speed.

I have the 4080, same boat.
I am on my second one.
First one was a 2007 with gas volvo 8.1 inboard.
Lost that one in Sandy.
Second one I have now is a 2009 with diesel volvo D4 with ips400.

I must love the boat, I got 2 of the same model.
Been out in some rough ocean and boat is great. Very dry running. A little side to side due to narrower beam than most 40' boats but that is better for narrow slips at Watch Hill.

Cruise on gas was 23 knots and I think I was burning about 26 to 28 gallons an hour. No meters.

Cruise on diesel is 28 knots burning 26 gph metered.

Cruise is same inside or ocean assuming ocean permits.
I bought two so I would buy again.
I did put this boat up for sale last year as I got nervous about draft. As I got more used to it and realized draft was less than I thought, I decided I love it.

Bilge does get a little water but not a lot.

Driving boat is easy. Good sight down the stairs to port side. Can't see starboard side at all. New boat has cameras.

I keep my canvas up but have driven without. It is fine. Very little wind.

Overall it's a great boat. Good layout. Well made.

Found a 2006 with yanmars in it with only 80hrs asking 179k

alos looking at silverton 410 sport, 42c, 38c and older Ocean Super Sports 40 - 48 range

keep getting told by brokers boat is mint and shown great pictures and then when I actually go look at the boat its a POS.

Oh also looking for a 20-23 center console also, every one I saw of those also were junk also
 
Be cautious of the Silverton 38c 2003 model year. To be safe, look at 2004 (late model production) or newer. 42C silverton is awesome, just don't get it with gas motors (very rare, but have seen this model with gas). 410 Sport Silverton, think we spoke about this, again, first production had some problems, but certainly not like the 38c. You should look at the 38 Silverton Sport Bridge as well. I don't know anything about Ocean boats, so can't help you there. If the Regal is big enough for you, as mentioned it is a great boat. The comparison to the Regal 3880 is the Silverton 34/36 c. I had the 34C and many here on BE have had the 36C (basically the same boat). Very good boat and absolutely no problems with that model. Just don't buy one with small blocks (5.7 or the 6.1 HO), diesel would be best, but the 8.1 Crusaders are perfect and low maintenance. I know of a mint 2010 Silverton 36C for sale on LI :)
